Re-ratet 2009 at Cafe Belgique in Amsterdam (on tap). Muddy orange body with a descent off-white head. Aroma is citric fruity and spicy. Flavor is refreshing fruity with a citric acidity, coriander, herbs, yeast, malt and some hops. Balanced sweetness and fine finish. Reminds me of a spicy saison, much better than last time a sampled this some years ago. 2-3-2-2-3 330 ml bottle. I know for sure this beer is supposed to be a lot better than this, and something is wrong with this bottle. Then again it passed the control and where sold so this is the beer I have to base my rating on. (this rating has been laying around in my drawer for at least one year) Will re-rate as soon as the opportunity comes again. Hazy orange beer with a white head. Unpleasant aroma of mould and sewer. Flavor is malty and harsh bitter with an acidulous dominance.

330 ml bottle. Hazy, dark orange body with an off-White head. Aroma is malt, fruity and spicy. Flavor I sweet malty, rather fruity, a bit sour, yeast and quite funky. Not bad at all but a bit unusually.

On tap @ the brewery. Hazy golden body with a white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy and lemon. Flavor is quite sweet, but refreshing, malt, lemon, spices and yeast. Relatively bitter finish to be a wit. Quite straight forward but also a bit unusually wit.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of dark malt, some caramel, hint of dark fruit and a bit spicy. Flavor is medium sweet malty with caramel, dry fruit and moderate hoppy. I think this is my favorite from Brouwerij ’t IJ

On tap @ the brewery. Cloudy orange body with a nice white head. Light aroma of citric fruit, yeast and spices. Flavor is light malty, quite fruity, some hops and spices. To funky to be a pilsner, but really refreshing and tasty as an ale.

(33cl bottle) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a big and stable blonde foamy head. Slightly sweet and yeasty malty aroma with a delicate wheat-character, accompanied by lemon-zest, mandarins and a flowery, blossom-like touch. Moderately sweet and slightly acidic flavour, light to medium bodied with a crispy carbonation. Malty, moderately wheaty and citrus-fruity, slightly zesty taste with light notes of coriander; fruit-accented, slightly tart and delicately bitter finish with a touch of coriander. Quite rounded Witbeer (08.II.09).

Nice deep orange/amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Fresh and hoppy aroma of sour grapes and nice potent malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong perfumey taste with malt and some light spices coming out. Aftertaste shows malt, a lot of spice and a good grassy quality. Overall, a nice beer - definitely worth trying...good to try, and a nice full-bodied beer! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from BioMarkt in Amsterdam, Holland on 27-December-2007, sampled at home on 19-January-2009 in Washington.

Bottle: I swear I have never had so many beers that gush on opening as t’ IJ beers. Most of these end up all over my floor. This one followed suit as the previous. Gushed a hazy orange brown with a huge lacing beige head. Aroma is fruit and yet also a sweet caramel or toffee. Taste is sweet and fruit, but very medicinal, leads me to believe it is a bit infected.
