Fletcher and began brewing in 1899. Its best known for its classic midlands dark beers , with the “mild” style beer historically being a staple for the workers of the local area. at its peak its was producing 100,000 barrels of mild beer per year. Dares, established in 1927 in Birmingham, Davenports acquired the brand in 1960 now resurrected as a wicked craft beer brand for product and venues.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Drapers' Arms, Bristol 2/4/2018. Deep gold with a slight, white, head. An inoffensive pale ale, with some hedgerow fruits, leafy hops and rich tea malts, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the Squirrel, Penn Street, 12/06/17. Rich amber with reddish hues topped with a light beige head. Nose is biscuit, light spice, caramel, sweet notes, light berry fruit. Taste comprises biscuit malt, light spice, toffee, caramel, straw, brown bread. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close dusted with earthy hop bitterness. This was fine ... much better than I’d expected ... condition was good.

Was after the two Highgate beers listed on the Bulls Heads website, but they dont do them all the time. Settled for this. Keg. Hazy malts in the aroma? Dark reddish brown. Big thick off white head. Looks promising but its kinda tasteless. Malty. Light bodied. Watery but leaves a sorta bready mouthfeel. Low key finish. Slips down but could do with more impact.
