Keg at Leeds International Beer Festival. This one was about 10 beers in, so the palate (and memory) were becoming a little overworked. Aroma of ripe satsuma with a black pepperiness. Alcohol is prominent. A light sweetness to the taste. A yeasty bitter aftertaste. Certainly interesting.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Murky amber body with a thick pillowy white head. Surprisingly weak aroma - sugar, yeast and white pepper. Taste lacks the depth and complexity of the finest Belgian Tripels but it’s still pretty nice. Sweet with a nice citrus hint in the finish. Full body with a foamy mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. A decent attempt at a Tripel, just lacking in sparkle.

Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. Cloudy, golden colour. Thin but lasting head. Aroma is a farmyard on a wet day. All the while drinking this it reminded me of another beer. in the end I realised it’s a lot like Fantome Saison. Which for me is a good thing.

Bottle picked up at ’Jacks’, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed at a wonderful house owned by the Blackwell family in Appleton, Oxon, Saturday 31st August 2013 Black in colour with a large sticky frothy head light beige head that sort of collapsed in the middle. Wonderfully creamy and rich beer with milkyness, coffee and a pleasant rich vein of roasty and tasty goodness, really quite lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed this beer. It’s great that Weird Beard can do beers such as this so very well alongside the strong and very hoppy numbers that they also do. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Bottle picked up at ’Jacks’, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed at a wonderful house in Appleton, Oxon, Saturday 31st August 2013 Pours very dark briwn with a large slightly sticky off-white head. Fruity full on ESB type beer with the malts, hops and body of this beer all giving the feelibg that it is an ESB on steriods and ramped up to 11. Caramel and dark slightly sticky fruits complete the picture for me of an interesting if rather complex brown beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
