12th April 2010. Clear amber - gold beer. Tiny white head. Low carbonation and a light dry palate. Good orange citrus with a touch of spice and a drop of lemon too. Oakham always do citrus flavours well!

Cask, handpump at The Queens Head, Marlpool, Nr Heanor Derbyshire 20-05-10 Brown with an off-white head. Tasty mild with a good nutty and malty base but being Oakham there was that inevitable hoppy undercurrent though this was well integrated and in no way distracted from from what they had intended this to be which was a decent stab at a mild. . [Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Amber. Sweet orangey fruit balanced by a good hoppy bitterness. A decent bitter, but not the outstanding effort you would expect from Oakham. Having said that, my friend referred to it as a "dirty beer" that had attempted to rape him, so obviously there was a bit of oomph somewhere that I failed to pick up!

Cask-conditioned at the Kings Head (JDW), Monmouth 8/04/10. Pale amber with a decent, tight off-white head. Big, citrus hops, balance by a touch of sweet malts, with a long dry finish. Excellent.
