Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, JDW, Canterbury. Amber, lasting ivory head. Oakham and Amarillo hops in a beer? You might think that I like this. Yes I do. Proper hop. Towards the end of a barrel I think. Not perfect condition lots of pulling through of the beer. Could be better than what I have already.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Gold with a thin cream head; malty aroma; rich creamy malts with a trace of caramel; then a dry citrusy finish. A very well put together bitter.

Cask at the Live and Let Live, Cambridge. Amber with a thin white head; sweet grainy aroma; sharp grapefruit flavour at first dry then becoming sweeter; clean refreshing finish. An excellent golden ale.

Cask, gravity from Bacchanalia, Cambridge to take away 27-03-10 consumed an hour or two later at campsite, Cabbage Moors, Cambridge Pours gold and really sparkling in this early spring evening, there is a lovely white head, another great looker.taste is initially a touch sweet but its got a laziness about it which is something you could never normally say about an Oakham beer. Not that crisp, in fact its soft rather than zesty, hops show but not in the usual Oakham way, you know this is fine but Oakham don’t usually do fine they’re normally bloody good, maybe it was a tad past its best? Cask. Pours an opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a small beige head. Lightly sweet hard roated malt in the nose. Medium body, low carbonation, hard roasted malt, lots of licorice and a little cough syrup. Light malt bitterness in the finish. Quite pleasant. 180110

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 06-01-10 Pours warm gold with a spicy hoppy nose. There is a real spiciness in the mouth, I get something like ginger but others aren’t getting this, some bitterness comes through, there is a little tangerine and maybe a nod to some grapefruit. Really nice stuff, this was another popular beer A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6
