Cask, handpump at The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon, Tuesday 31st December 2013 (New Years Eve) Pours reddy brown, it is difficult to categorise this beer however as Gazza has described this as a half IPA and as this doesn’t sit anywhere else very comfortably then it will have to go under IPA until a half IPA category is formed which if you have DIPA then half IPA doesn’t sound to unreasonable. Btw the reddy brown colour of this automatically ruled out lumping it into a APA or Golden Ale slot. Reddy brown in colour, initially quite a snappy, fruity hoppy bite from the hops which softens a touch but not a lot. Punches above its weight for the abv. I was only able to have a small sample as driving but a really nice low abv hop forward beer. Really fruity and fresh, good stuff. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask at The Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire on dads 65th birthday Thursday 26th December 2013 This one is much more like it, crisp, refreshing and full of zippy, zappy, zesty citrussy hops. Loads of grapefruit in this one, some pithy grapfruit and some juicy grapefruit, it really is lovely, fresh and really moreish. I was surprised at the Bosun James Grey which was really safe and lacked the killer crispness and bite, this on the other had is a corker.I’m glad that I never had this too early on with 30+ beers on offer otherwise I may not have tried anything else, as it was after this I never had anything else and neither did Loz. Cask at The Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire on dads 65th birthday Thursday 26th December 2013 Pours mid gold very slight haze touch creamy and safe particularly when drunk alongside the Iron Road. Hoppy with a little buzz. It’s ok but for Gazza it’s a little too mellow and creamy rather than crisp and hoppy. There is a little sweet citrus and it’s absolutely fine but just lacking a hoppy punch. Btw it’s called Pixie Spring, Bosun James Gray in the RURAD bar but in the other bar (front bar) dad saw a list where it was called Hopcraft, Bosun James Gray and the same for the Iron Road, so as this is on RB then I am assuming they’re both Hopcraft beers. Cask-conditioned at the Barley Mow, Bristol 20/12/2013. Pale gold with a decent white head. Big, grapefruit and hopsack aroma with a hint of sweetness. Flavour had more tropical fruits, solid malts and led to a lingering, dry finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 19th December 2013. Gold with off-white foam. Fruitiness/grapefruit citrus in aroma and in mouth, with delicate grassy notes. Deliciously hoppy, fruity finish on a zingy mouthfeel. Medium body. Excellent.

(Cask at King William IV, Leyton, London, 21 Nov 2013) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dark chocolate, pine needles and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, citrus, pine needles and an impressive piney/citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Excellent black IPA with an impressive hop presence. Very nice.
