Bottled 11.06.2013, BBE 11.12.2013 - Pours pitch black with a foamy white head. Aroma of roasty malts, wood, hints of dark ripe fruits, vanilla, oak and sweet toffee notes. Taste is hoppy, slightly roasty and a bit messy with notes of vanilla, chocolate, toffee, caramel, wood and exotic fruits. Finish is smooth, wooden and sweetish with hints of vanilla and oak. A bit strange and untypical, the bourbon notes don’t quite fit in here.

Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, wheat, moderate smoke, light yeasty, plastic notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, smoke, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130628] 5-3-5-3-10 Draught @ Cock Tavern, 315 Mare Street, Hackney, Greater London, England E8 1EJ. [ As Pressure Drop Smoked Dunkel ].ABV: 4.8%. Murky matt medium brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, meat, smokes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, meat, smoked, bacon, wood, caramel. Keg at Leeds International Beer Festival. 4.0%. Cloudy straw colour. One of the brewers invited me to guess the herb in this. The nearest I got was fennel. (Well, thats what the missus thought). He then went on to say he wanted this to taste a bit like a red sauce. I thought, oh yeah, it does too. Slightly spicy, fruity. Good job. Except later his colleague said to me, "Bread sauce, not red sauce!". I’m not really cut out for this tasting lark...

Aroma: Sour acidic fruity. Wheat, yeast and some spices.
Palate: Medium body. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation.

Bottle from Sourced Market in St Pancras station, London. Poured a dark amber with a slight haze and a dense white head. Aroma of pine, caramel and tropical fruits. Quite sweet initial flavours of toffee, brown sugar, and sponge cake before tart citrus hops come into the mix with resin notes, all balanced with some bready malts.

Cask at The Cock, Hackney on 3 August 2013. Poured a slightly murky brown with a thin, creamy head. Aroma of dark malt, bread and caramel. Roasted malt flavour with biscuit and dried fruit. Balanced palate with some bitter, pine like hops along with nutty malts and a little spice.

Bottle at home, acquired at Sourced, 01/09/13. Pours golden amber with a mahoosive forthy off white head. Nose is floral hops, apricot, light yeast esters, faint cinnamom bark, ripe banana. Taste comprises orange pith, light yeast tones, clove, light spice, hint of bready malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finale. Ok hefe but not true to the style, more a hybrid pale ale / ipa kind of thing going down.

Bottle at Deans Birthday Tasting, August 2013. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a frothy tan head. The aroma is peaty and malt. The flavour is weak bitter with some roasted malt, coffee and chocolate on the slightly watery palate. The aroma was better than the taste.
