Description
Emile Vanhonsebrouck and his wife Louise De Poorter founded the Sint Jozef brewery in Ingelmunster. In 1922 the brothers Paul and Ernest Van Honsebrouck take over the brewery from their mother. In 1953 Luc Van Honsebrouck (son of Paul) becomes director. Luc realizes that the small Sint Jozef brewery isn't able to compete with the large pils breweries. He therefore decides to concentrate on the production of an old brown beer, naming it Bacchus, and he changes the name of the brewery to Vanhonsebrouck. The St-Louis Gueuze and Kriek were officially launched in 1958. In 2009 Xavier Vanhonsebrouck succeeds his father Luc. In 2016 the doors of the old brewery in Ingelmunster are permanently closed. The new site in Emelgem is now home to a brand new, fully integrated brewery, with the equipment to produce all of the Vanhonsebrouck beers. In the meantime Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck becomes the new official name.

Another reddish burgundy lambic with a nice lacing pinkish head. Medicinal cherry cough drops in aroma, or cheap cherry drops. In mouth, very sweet yet likeable kriek, with nice lactic points, and medium bodied, Bieropholie, Nov. 2005.

Lightly hazed burgundy red with a thin collapsing lightly pink to white head. Fresh raspberries in aroma, like a jam. Nice tart sweet fruits in mouth, with pleasant little lactic points, not too chemical in nature (like the Bellevue). Rich for such a light beer. An honest frambozien. (Bièropholie, Nov-05).

A hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet and very peachy. The flavor is very sweet making it sticky in the mouth, and with strong notes of peach. Too sweet and too much peach to be balanced.

This Lambic poured a slightly cloudy light yellow with a rocky head. Scents include apples and fruit with a glue background. Almost a slight burning sensation in the nose. ??? First sip is shockingly fruity and sparkling with lots of carbonation. Lots of glue too. The finish is winey with a small amount of ripe fruit flavours. The palate is more like regular ale with a splash of cider. The Glue has got to go!

Bottle: Poured a reddish color beer with a nice medium size light pink head with average retention. Aroma of raspberry is clearly dominating with a nice mix between real raspberry and some syrup. Taste is also quite dominated by the raspberry with some very subtle sourness. This really reminded me of the Lindemans Framboise with a bit less tart and sourness.

Golden ale with a thin creamy white head. Sweet malt and orange peels in aroma. Sweet creamy malt, with treacle notes, and light spices, coriander, cloves and orange peels. Medium bodied with nice tingling effect. Nice with the Fondue.
