On tap at The Local Taphouse, Darlinghurst on 16th September 2015. Reddish-brown with off-white shallow foam. Pine, herbs and spices decorate a floral hop aroma. Intensely hoppy, herby and spicy in-mouth with tangerine, liquorice and maltiness. A herby, grassy finish with a backbone of biscuit malt. Zingy mouthfeel and medium body. A delightful Australian Red IPA.

Black color with a beige head with short duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts with chocolate and liquor plumbcake. Flavor is slightly sweet, coffee beans with licorice notes, dark fruits and roasty mouthfeel. Light bitterness on palate with coffee beans notes.

Growler. Clear amber with a white head that never quite disappears. Aroma of mango, caramel, kumquats, pine, Ribena. Sweet with spiced and singed toffee, oily citrus zest, pine needles. Firm bitterness comes late out of the toffee. Interesting beer - very American hops (which is unusual for Murrray’s) but the malt side is curious: a little bit English and a little bit Vienna lagerish.

Schooner on tap@ The Pumphouse, Sydney. Distant floral hop nose. Golden amber beer with thin film of suds. Steady but light carbonation. Sharp zing in the mouth, medium body. Finish is rockmelon and bitters. Nice in the sun.

From a 330m bottle on 26/7/2015. Pours a cloudy amber with the barest of heads. Has a relatively muted aroma of bready and Belgian yeast. Take a sip and it’s a sweetie, with raisins, cherries, caramel and a hint of raspberry cordial. Finishes with a moderate, spicy bitterness, with just a touch of booze at the back. The texture is creamy and velvety, and the carbonation soft. A rather unusual big dessert brew but quite enjoyed it.

Bottle. Opened suspiciously quietly. Amber with almost no head, just a few bubbles at the rim. Aroma of dried bananas, bread, raisins, alcohol, spices. Syrupy, almost flat. Very sweet and boozy with raisins, scorched grains and spices. Doesn’t dry out much but there’s a fair bit of bitterness. Poor.

Bottle, 12C. Black with a brown head that’s soon less than a coat but lasts at the rim. Powerful aroma with heavy roast, dark chocolate, rum, blackcurrants, licorice, ash. Silky mouthfeel, lowish carbonation. Lots of bittersweet but not particularly thrilling chocolate and certainly sweeter than normal Wild Thing. Doesn’t bury the roast and berries, but they’re strong supporting players rather than leads. Strong (mostly roasted) bitterness with floral, tropical fruit and spicy notes tidies things up nicely at the end. Bit salty there too. Happily - and I guess predictably - the in your face base beer wins in the end. Good.

330ml bottle into glass. Smoky malt nose, copper-red beer with two finger white head. Medium carbonation. Mineral water spritzy taste with malty palate. Finish has lemons, caramel and hops. Nice bitter, good session beer.

From a 330ml bottle on 28/5/2015. Pours a light golden with a medium head. Has a quite strong aroma of passionfruit, lychee and mango. The flavour is super fruity - oodles of citrus (mandarin), stone (apricot, peach) and tropical (passionfruit, pineapple), along with some pale malt, with a sticky grapefruity hop bitterness finishing things off. Medium to full body with lively carbonation. A very enjoyable fruit driven IPA.
