Description
We are a small and independent brewery which has been making great beer for over fifteen years, winning both SIBA and CAMRA awards for our beers.

We brew in small batches by hand with the utmost regard not only for flavour but also for quality and consistency, using the finest British barley and a mix of both Kentish and World hops.

A bit of history: Established in 1995 as Swale brewery in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne, moved to Grafty Green, Maidstone in 2001. Sold to the ancient Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company in 2003.

Bottle from Macknade's Fine Foods, Faversham. Black with a middling beige head and a moderate fizz. Maybe a touch too fizzy for my liking. Coffee and a little chocolate up front, then tobacco and salt, followed by soy sauce & unami in a dry finish. An unusually savoury stout; I really rather enjoyed it.

19/2/2019. Bottle from Four Hops, Reigate. Pours golden amber with an off-white head. Aroma of fresh raspberry, raspberry jelly, straw, hops, wheat and vanilla. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, hint of tartness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, above average carbonation. Light bittersweet fruit finish. Not bad.

Sun Inn fest. Kelvedon. Cask. Clear yellow - gold beer, thin bubbly white head. Palate is light and smooth and has decent fine carbonation. Smooth pale malts, nice light sweetness. Motueka brings mild hop spice here. There is a light touch of limey tropical fruits here but only a whisper of that sumptuous Motueka floralness. Light finish, mildly crisp. Clean and very sessionable. Unexpectedly good.

Cask at The Claret. It pours clear deep brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is malt - driven, brown bread, malt loaf, chewy, twiggy and a touch of sweetness. The taste is dry, bitter, toasty grain, burnt toast, touch of charcoal, tannin, stewed black tea, brown bread and dark fruit with a dry, charred wood finish. Light - medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. A bit charred and twiggy. Fair.
