Sexy-looking bottle at Bodney Mansions. Thanks to Colin! It pours hazy deep mahogany brown with a small white head. The aroma is soft, fresh, sweet, tangy damson, plum, sugar and jam. The taste is dry, bitter, tart, tangy, wood, toasty sugars, earth, vinous character, vimto and jam. Medium body and fine carbonation. This beer split the crowd, but I rather enjoyed it.

Bottle shared in Hackney - cheers to Cloin. Pours unclear gold with a thin, creamy off-white head. The nose holds bread, vague citrus, melon, orange. Meidum sweet flavour with a slight metallic note, ripe apples, tangy oranges, grainy bread. Meidum bodied, lightly oily with fine to averGe carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more apples, metal, citrus, leaves. So so.

Bodney Bier Huis bottleshare. Thanks to Cloin for the ceramic looking bottle. Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Tangy oxidised tasting malts. Dry creamy sweetness. Tangy overripe semi fermented plum. Light semi dry finish. Odd.

Taster from a bottle at the Brewery shop, 30/03/18. Almost translucent with a faint yellow hue. Nose is sweet syrups, honeydew melon, sugar cane, light booze fumes. Taste comprises sweet honey, vanilla, throat lozenge, icing sugar, Cherry bakewell glaze. Full bodied, oily feel, warming alcohol in the close. Decent enough sipper.

Stoneware, fliptop bottle that my wife got me from the brewer?s own stall at last year?s Waddesden Christmas Market. The beer inside is an attractive chestnut-red colour with a lasting beige head. The damson is obvious in the smell- it?s quite a fresh newly-picked fruity smell too. It?s tart on tasting, verging on sour, with a dry aftertaste. The fresh damson verges at times on being closer to sloe berries- it?s not a beer you can drink quickly. There’s a little caramel in the background but the fruit is definitely the main feature. Definitely an interesting brew; maybe a little harsh on the first sip, but perseverance pays a reward here and by the end I was thoroughly enjoying it. Unusual but refreshing and tasty.

Bottle as a Christmas present from my brother and drunk at home a few months later. Clear amber colour lasting thin beige head. Certainly a tasty premium bitter, lots of fruity malt and biscuit here. Very drinkable. Earthy, brown malts, earthy hops. It’s a premium bitter. Some blackcurrant and hedgerow. Fine.

Bottle as a present bought at a National Trust location. Clear brown coloured with a very thin head. Has sweetened dark malts with bursts of chocolate that do linger in the palate.
