(Bottle 75 cl) Very beautiful clear, dark amber - looks like a good cognac - with a small, off-white head. Fat, flowery hoppy aroma. Very full body with tons of sweet caramel malt. Very vinuos with notes of overripe fruits - a bit sugary. Old Ale? This is more your typical American Barley Wine. 031205 and 061006
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Blindtasting. Pours a cloudy and opaque brown with an off-white head. Sweet aroma of roasted malts, licorice allsorts and overripe fruit. Medium body with notes of caramel, overripe fruit and and oxidized edge. Hops have faded quite a bit while the alcohol is still sharp in the finish. 7/3/7/3/15=3.5 060510

Bottle. Cardboardy, fruity aroma. Reddish colour. Bitter, quite peppery flavour with some cream to it. Aftertaste is pleasantly rough. 738415
Bottle. Sweet aroma, vinous, slightly oxidised. Cloudy red colour. Small frothy tan head. Sweet flavour, quite sweet, really. Good vinous, barrelled, I guess, for exactly the right amount of time. Roasted finish, not roasted barley, perhaps from the alcohol. A good barley wine. 838317

Light burgundy/copper in color, with impressive white head and very thick lace - complex aroma of caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, alcohol and a hint of smoke - alcohol is quite apparent at first, but mellows as it warms - quite a bit of light fruity esters at first (strawberry, cherry) - then some roasted malt, making way for toffee and vanilla, maybe a touch of bourbon - warming alcohol and long, sweet finish, tempered by just enough hops - a tiny bit out of balance for now, but with aging this will be incredible.

Clear golden with a copper tint, no head to speak of - aroma of coriander, pear, apple, vanilla - quite dry, and the pear, apple and other fruits combine with this to give it an almost cider-like flavor - some hops come in late, as does orange peel and lemon zest - very apparent alcohol - I expected more from Alesmith; this is actually pretty average.

Dark brown with no head - very low to no carbonation - aroma is malty, yet tart, with caramel, brown sugar, citrus, apples, a touch of spices - earthy and yeasty to start - orange marmalade and other fruits crop up, only to quickly make way for chocolate and toffee to arrive on the palate - abt/quad charactaristics make me think this should be reclassified - finishes with yeast and spices - a little tartness - pretty good - if you told me this was made in belgium, I’d believe you.

Dark burgundy color, with sticky white lace - powerful aroma of figs, plums, a little smoke and scotch whiskey - fruity up front, with dates, raisins and plums - later, chocolate, caramel and toffee make appearances - finishes with some alcohol warmth and lingering plum - aggressive, but not overpowering - very nice progression of flavor - well-balanced all around.

Bottle. #208/240. Rich amber beer with a thin light beige head. Bourbon notes in aroma - strawberry, sweet malt, and alcohol. Strng bourbon flavor with some vanilla and oak. Some fruit. Noticable alcohol. The bourbon just overpowers everything and is way too much in your face. There’s a good beer underneath, but its being hidden by the bourbon. Tasted in a side-by-side comparison with the regular Numbskull, and this one tasted more of alcohol and had much less complexity.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a thin light beige head. Malt aroma - lots of sweet malt - with a bit of fruitiness. Lots of raisin and malt in the flavor - some hop bitterness peaking through. Some alcohol present. Rich, silky body.

Cloudy, reddish copper pour with fizzy, short-lived head - no lacing - very full aroma, with caramel, flowery hops, herbs, dark fruit, alcohol (perhaps a bit too much, though) - flavorful, but not overpowering - oily mouthfeel - fruity esters and thick caramel malt flavors up front, making way for honey, brown sugar, perhaps some ginger - finishes with hops and warming alcohol - quite a nice barleywine, but there are many better.

A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol and lots of fruit, leaning towards the over ripe end of life. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, prunes, over ripe fruits, wood, and alcohol, that prickles the tongue. The end is dry and woody.
