Bottle sample at the source, courtesy of Tom, thank you sir! This one has a nice citrus nose. Body is light, and it has a peak in flavor with a quick finish. Tasty, but I couldn’t drink a lot of it. Pair it with a stinky cheese, Tom says.

From a polypin at the Orchard, Bristol 30/9/2015. Golden in colour. Bittersweet apple fruit, a touch of funkiness and a dry finish. Good.

Bottle @ CiderCider, small tick. Clear golden color, short head. Aroma is quite fruity, apple, floral, quite some oaky wood notes. Quite dry in taste, slight sweet apple, some oak wood. Quite nice for a sip, but for a whole glass probably a bit too dry for me. So I took a French Cidre de Fermier for a glass instead.

Clear golden colour, no head. Aroma of apple, apple skins, spices and funk. Funky flavour, light brett, apple, rum. Decent English cider.

330ml bottle from Gloucester Services Farm Shop. Pours clear gold with a nice sparkle. Aroma is fresh apple juice and light sour. Taste presents a distinctly more sour and tannin-rich blend than the last Gold Rush. Perhaps too much so, tingling the teeth as you struggle with the harsh mouthfeel. Have to say I did prefer the previous two more. I guess this demonstrates the unpredictable element that lambic yeast gives.

500ml bottle as At The Hop 3, picked up at Gloucester Services Farm Shop, shared with Soph in Cornwall. Pours deep gold with a big complex aroma, light whisky, smoke, hop and cider barn. Taste is just as complex with smoke, citrus lime zest, sharp apple fruit and orchard must with amped-up earthy tannins. Massive complexity that continually evolves, drawing you in with every sip. Very impressed with this Tom.

750ml bottle from Oliver’s online. Orange golden colour, no head and aroma of tangy fruity apple & light funk. Taste is sour, apple, apple skins, bittersweet with barnyard, woody oak, tannic & grassy notes. Oily & tart mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, finish has lots of drying tannins. Very drinkable.
