Bottle (from Koht). Pours black with lightbrownish head. The head stays. Aroma is intense roast, coffee, citrus, malt, bit medicinal. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, coffee, citrus, medicinal, herbal, malty. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: very good, my kind of black ipa.

750ml bottle [OK, Hopfenstark, RB is mostly about beer not artwork - but those labels of the 7-Sisters Series are shitty loveless]. Moderately cloudy, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Mildly funky, spicy and fruity yeasty aroma, notes of peach, apricot, white pepper, brine, a touch of caraway and sage, sweet-ish bready, malty background. Taste is dry, dusty yeasty, cautiously fruity, minimally waxy, grassy hoppy, hints of unripe peach, nectarine, green apple, minimally chalky and soapy finish.

Cotteridge #3: 20th May 2017. Cheers Martin (SarkyNorthener) for this offering. Hazy golden body, white head: beer had been passed around before reaching me, so might have been clear bodied earlier? Citrus and yeasty nose, taste citrus sourness and spiced somewhat, gets sweeter late on towards the finish.

Draft at Hopfenstark Station Ho.st, Montreal. Clear pale gold, white head. Aroma of smoke and sour fruit. Taste is mild smoke, hay, tart fruit. Interesting, but this combination doesn’t really work for me. It does seem like a smoked Berliner Weisse rather than a smoked saison.
