Op zijn zeventiende vertrok Ramses Snoeij naar zijn vader in Amerika. Rond 1990 werd daar het eerste Ramses Bier gebrouwen in Oregon, aan de westkust van de Verenigde Staten. Na zijn terugkeer in Nederland koos hij in 2007 ervoor zijn brouwhobby commercieel aan te pakken. Zijn eerste commerciële brouwsel was Willem Bever dat in 2007 werd geïntroduceerd. De bieren van Ramses Bier werden aanvankelijk gebrouwen met behulp van de brouwfaciliteiten van Bierbrouwerij De 3 Horne in Kaatsheuvel. Hier werden brouwsels gebrouwen van 700-800 liter. De proefbrouwsels werden in Wagenberg gebrouwen en hadden een volume van 50-60 liter. In februari 2013 werd een eigen bedrijfsruimte opgeleverd met een nieuwe brouwinstallatie die een brouwcapaciteit van 1.500 liter heeft.

Bottle: 2014 brewed in Hooge Zwaluwe. Almost black. Malt, salt and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweetish rosty slightlky herbal flavor with hints of licoirce. Hint of juniper, but the oak remains largely unnotices, Nice beer, though.Earlier Rating: 5/7/2012 Total Score: 3.62012 bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, roast and a hint of oak in the aroma. Malty roasty flavor with oaky notes, warming alcohol, bourbon and licorice. Thinnish, alcoholic, but not bad.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Slight gusher. Earthy herbal caramelly aroma with hints of licorice and chocolate. Thin. Earthy caramelly sweet but also nutty bitter flavor with grassy herbal notes and licorice. Decent.

Bottle. Golden color. Malt, salt, seaweed and the slightest hint of oak in the aroma. Malty salty flavor with salmiac. Herbal bitter. Dry finish, hard to spot the promised rhum oak aging. Tasty and fairly complex brew, much better as the former 5% version.
