Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s this beer poured a bright golden color with a small soapy white head that faded quickly but left good lacing. The aroma was boozy with note s of table sugar, apricot, honey and bread. The flavor was boozy apricot, pear, table sugar, bread and chardonnay. Medium length apricot, pear, table sugar and chardonnay finish. Moderately full bodied though undercarbonated. Interesting.

Bottle @ Vail, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks bro! Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Very roasty, burnt malty, chocolate, slightly boozy, mild dark fruity, kind of spicy aroma. Fairly strong boozy, grape/plum, caramel, slightly smoky, chocolate flavor. Pretty good.

Capped 750 from Bine & Vine. Pours black with a transient tan head. Brandy burn aroma. And chocolate. Near full bodied. There’s lots of brandy and chocolate. Oak astringency. Very smooth burnt malt. Not much heat. Nice oak/brandy finish.

Tap @Ginger Man, NYC. ABV 4.8%
My first beer from Nebraska, state 41/51! Hazy yellow color, steady white head. Overriped banana aroma. Medium-bodied. Banana, some bubblegum in the flavor. Tasty for this ABV.

Bottle from Bu11zeye! Pours dark copper with a light beige head. Aromas of med dark fruit and rye spice and oak. Med + body. Flavor is rye, fruit oak, roasty caramel. It is shockingly flavorful and delicious. Finishes with a hint of sweet malt, but the rye/oak/fruit are killer dominant. Really good stuff.

A reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet nutty caramel malt with light grassy hops. In mouth, a nutty malt with faint grassy hops, a tad boring. On tap at Beer Authority.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out brett, moderate apricot, and no pepper notes. Flavour is surprisingly clean, bringing out loads of brett, moderate pepper, a hint of the apricots, and moderate chardonnay barrels. The brett is upfront, followed by the pepper. The apricots are very far back and the wine barrels accentuate everything. Very well-constructed, with a super dry palate. Excellent stuff.
