Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

Dunkel bitterer Nachhall. 9/10/11/10/11/10

Completely flat with a very foul taste - think somethings wrong here. .25 is being generous.

Many thanks to Erzengel. Thick rocky beige head stayed on a dark amber still body. Malt, caramel & tiffe aroma. Medium to thin bodied, airy over the tongue with short sharp dry back. Chocolate, caramel, malt, nutty & citrus tastes with a bitter tangy finish.

Bottle. Color: Dark ruby, beige head. Aroma: Dark malt, notes of dark dried fruit, caramel. Taste: Darm malt, very dense mouthfeel, strong notes of candy sugar, caramel, dark dried fruit. Medium sticky sweet. Moderate hopbitterness, some orange peel notes, herbal and licorice hints. Full body, below average carbonation. Great beer, probably the most intense and one of the best German beers brewed conform the Reinheitsgebot that I've ever tasted. Nice dessert beer.

Bottle. Color: Dark copper, off-white head. Aroma: Malt, subtle caramel. Taste: Malty and hoppy, subtle caramel, lightly herbal. Moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Notes of grass, hay, bread, subtle dried dark fruit. Orange peel hints. A lot more of different flavours than an original Alt beer. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Pretty smooth and dense mouthfeel. Bittery finish. Nice.

Dark brown with creamy beige crown. Aroma of brown sugar with a slightly vinous undertone. Sweet and heavy, full of caramel and sweetened port wine. A bitter twist rounds out the finish. Heavy body, soft carbonation. It’s a dessert and far closer to a barley wine than the Altbier I once drank in Düsseldorf. Very pleasant sipping.
