Bottle thanks to Josh. It pours pretty much black with a small tan head. The nose is earth, toast, cocoa, tang and coffee grinds. The taste is very dry, coffee grinds, earth, ash, decent acidity, touch of sweetness, burnt notes and cocoa with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Not great. Too dry.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Josh. Pours clear brown with a foamy beige head. Restrained espresso aroma, some dark bread, cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with burnt toast, light bitter coffee, hints of burnt plastic. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Slightly tangy dark malt finish, a bit of milk chocolate, roasted malts, mild earthy bitterness. OK.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a thick white head that holds well. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing. Pungent aroma of caramel, grapefruit and lychee. The taste is less intense than the aroma - flavours of alcohol, caramel and a hint of orange. Dry finish. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Average carbonation. A solid IPA, but I expected the fruity flavours of the hops to shine through on the taste a bit more. This bottle was 7.3% ABV.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy pale golden body with a thin white head. Average carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of lemon, ginger, grain and a hint of lavender. Flavour is very sweet for a Saison - honey and lemon flavoured Strepsils, Digestive biscuits and apricot. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation. I much prefer sharp, spicy, yeasty Saisons - unfortunately, this tastes a bit flabby and sweet. This bottle was 6.0% ABV.

330ml bottle from Glug, Newcastle. Pours a murky orange with a big hit of Chinook as soon as the caps popped off. Quite tasty, with a lemon sweetness and some tropical juice and pine together with a mild, enjoyable bitterness. Good stuff from a great new brewery.

Hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is crisp and a little dry. Light semi sweet yeast and thin dry malt. A minty coolness but no mint! Mild citrus underneath. Little spice. Finishes light and crisp. Clean drinking saison but I’m finding it hard to get enthusiastic as there seems to be a glut of saisons around.

Hazy gold beer with a few white bubbles for a head. Palate is smooth with modest fine carbonation. Smooth but dry malt. Typical and typically good NZ hops. Light floral Motueka that is also slightly creamy. Mellow lime and orange citrus. Joins up very well. Finishes soft and semi dry. Good stuff.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is big coffee, roasted malt and a little dry smoke. The flavour is medium bitter, with a weak hoppy slightly odd medicinal bitter weak spice pepper palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel.
