Hazy dark brown colour. Toasty, smokey aroma with a hint of brown sugar that also reminds me of a toasted coconut doughnut. So it would mix well with a coffee stout, then? Sweet, with rich toffee notes and accents of molasses and wood. I found the sweetness started to get to me by the end of the bomber but it’s a pretty solid beer and if sweet is your thing, do it up.

Bottle in the bar of the Back Bay Hilton Boston where we stopped Dec 05 there is a fantastic range of bottled beers in this hotel bar. A most attractive label I must say. The beer poured a deep golden ok maybe copper colour with a small head. Plenty of hops in the aroma, hops and grapefruit in the flavour dept and a nice refreshing crisp bite to this beer.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a small bubbly off-white head with average retention. Aroma is quite hoppy with a nice floral touch. Taste is also hoppier then expected with a great presence of citrus hops. Body is about average for the style with some low carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a clear nut-brown dopplebock with a huge foamy head with excellent retention. Huge aroma of freshly baked banana bread is quite just unbelievable. The freshly baked banana bread with a good slightly sweet malt backbone also dominates taste. Alcohol is well hidden and body is just above average with some medium carbonation. Definitely one of the best dopplebock I ever had.

Dark black color with a thick light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and some bitterness. Flavor of dark chocolate, coffee and bitterness.

Thanks to Dorwart for this trade last year. Finally opened to share at my club’s Bock tasting. So this is well over a year old. It hit us all with a big alcohol nose. Pours a nice head of foam even into plastic cups for sampling. Has some of the character of a Belgian dark beer, with some candi sugar sweetness. But very smooth, like "Cream of Malt." A great break from the Hubers and Leinies we had before cracking this one!

Clear amber color with a medium light brown head. Aroma of hops with caramel notes. Flavor had hints of pine with a sweet caramel end.

Bottled. Clear ruby. Raisiny malt aroma. Sweet and very aromatic with clean mouthfeel some light grassy hops. Rich Belgian style yeast almondy yeast character. Salty finish. Flavourwise it is very good, but it lacks in malt depth.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy yellow color ale with a quite big foamy head with excellent retention. Aroma of citrus and floral hops is dominant and quite enjoyable. Lots of semi-sweet malt is distinguishable at first when tasted and then the citrus and bitter hops do a good job to the aftertaste. Body is above average without being too full and alcohol is well hidden. This is probably one the best IIPA I’ve had the chance to try and the only fault I can find is a little peak of metallic / ester hops which is not something I usually love in a beer.

Bottle. Caramel flavor, no real special aroma. Not bad flavor at all, malt and honey flavor. Pretty decent lager.
