A reddish brown porter with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of dark fruits, plums, molasses, light coffee and soy sauce. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee grind, light dark fruits, powdery character, nice and smooth. Bottle from LCBO, Bb January 2018.

Cask at the pub that used to be Berts Bar in the west end of Edinburgh and now has some stupid name I can’t remember or be bothered to look up. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of buttery biscuit and faint dirty citrus. Taste is buttery too. Thin finish. Not great.

Cask half pint at McGinty’s, Aberdeen. 4.2% ABV. Golden colour, white head. Malty / toffee aroma. Smooth malty flavour, not as fruity as McGinty’s Ale. The hops are too moderate.

Cask half pint, as Inveralmond McGinty’s Ale, at McGinty’s, Aberdeen. Toffee aroma. Nice flavour with fruity hops, on a moderate malty background with toffee notes. Decent bittering hops in the finish.

Dark copper, still slightly transparent. Dense slightly off-white head, good persistence and nice lacing. Aroma shows earthy malt sweetness, notes of chocolate and a bit of spiciness. Not incredibly intense but very nice and clean. Taste is mainly malty sweet with caramel, toffee and slight earthiness. Slightest spiciness and maybe some fruity hints. Bitterness is low, and pretty much just bringing balance. Medium bodied with average carbonation, slightly creamy. Nice scotch ale

Pours a dark copper colour with ruby-amber highlights. The head is beige, long lasting with good web-creamy lacing. Lots of chocolate and cocoa powder aromas. Hint of spices, caramel and vanilla. Flavours of roasted malts with mild nuttiness. Some alcohol and grassy hops in the finish. Lightly different for the style, but quite good overall.

Bottle. Orangy coloured beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is lightly spiced, and the flavour is bitter with warming spices. Overall a reasonable Belgian style ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a nice brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some roasted malt notes and light residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of residual sugar notes with some black chocolate notes and light residuals sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid take on the style.

Cask at the White Horse - Parsons Green. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. Somewhat doughy pale malts in the nose, straw, a little zesty lemon. Light sweet flavour with crispy biscuits, more lemony hops, mild bitter hay, pale grains. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Creamy texture. Alright balance in the finish, more lemon, biscuits. Easy going stuff. Fine.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Clear deep amber beer, a few white bubbles. Fair bit of esters, smooth at least. A little paper in the malts. Trace of tangy fruits. Light dry finish. Passable.
