Description
Robbert Orano started White Pony. He is a home brewer with Belgian roots. He has a great preference for craft beer and heavier Belgian beers. The White Pony brewery makes beer in an artisanal way, unpasteurized and unfiltered. And bottles the beer with respect for the old tradition. But all this is done with an innovative view of the brewing process.

Bottle shared at CBJ - cheers! Pours deep amber with a creamy, light tan head. Medium to big sweet flavour, light oxidation, some stewed apples, light roast. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, boozy, more apples, earth. So so.

Russet-cream head, fast reduced to rim over black beer. Fusely, higher alcohols' nose, esters, cherries on alcohol, liquorice, liqueur, blue cheese, buttermilk. Sour cherries with chocolate, watercolour paint, something chemical, and winebarrels. At first something of a mess, but the balance arrives warming up. Very thick, alcoholheat, chewy. Difficult to qualify. Good things, interesting concoction, but at the opposite end of easy drinkable. Txs to Stef!

A 33 cl bottle obtained from Finest Belgian, happy to get it. In front of me is a tulip glass ready to receive the pour. A very dark brown liquid with a quickly dispersing head of sepia toned foam. An attractive nose, dark fruit, chocolate and bread. I take a drink now, dark chocolate, some roastiness, black cherries, toasted bread, licorice and a touch of brown sugar. A nice combination of bitter and sweet. I like White Pony for their top level quadrupels but they can turn out a nice imperial stout too.

Can: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of chocolate and coca notes with some light dry roasted malt notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate and dry roasted malt notes with a dry coffee finish. Body is light for style with good carbonation and no discernible alcohol notes. Lacking body and flavors.

Can: Poured an orangey color ale with a light foamy head with minimal retention and light lacing. Aroma of malt with light ester and some unrefined notes. Taste is also a mix of cereal with light unrefined notes with some ester and residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. OK Belgian ale but malt bill could be cleaner with more attenuation.

Cream coloured head over dark Armenian brandy-coloured beer. Chocolate, brandy, liqueurish as plum liqueur, bonbons. Ripe banana, chocolate, wood, cognac, higher alcohols, nutcake. Dried red/dark fruit. Chewy to viscous, alcoholheat, adequate carbonation. Well! Not all White Pony is poor. Not all Eutropius either... Txs to Stef!
