Can from a mix-6-pack from Binny’s South Loop. A crystal clear light copper-gold pour with a wonderfully hoppy nose tropical fruits and dank resinous pine. Earthy pine bark bitterness with a fruity finish this is definitely a hop forward pale ale. My wife loved it and all I got were her leftovers!

Tasting at Bruce’s pad, thanks to the Leightonator, 12/06/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a well appointed light tan covering. Nose is liqourice, spice, dark berry fruits, light roast, cocoa rub. Taste comprises Ribena berries, light roast, liqourice stick, earthy hop, red berry fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough CDA.

Location: Draft at Bad Apple, 6/11/14
Aroma: The aroma is heavy citrus/grapefruit, some pine and caramel notes as well
Appearance: Pours an orange-amber color with a decent sized beige head and decent lace
Flavor: The flavor is grapefruit/citrus, some sweetness, but with much more bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-full, decent carbonation, and some boozy heat as well
Overall Impression: This is a pretty nice high ABV DIPA. You definitely get some booze here, but it is a tasty beer. They did a nice job with this one.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and crisp. Airy malts, mild dark character, some dark chocolate. Light spice and mild piney hops. Light dry finish. Not bad but wanted more from a big CDA.

Bottle thanks to L-Dogg. It pours near black with a thick beige head. The nose is toasty, pine needles, soap, shreddies, orange peel and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter-sweet, earth, toasty, ash, liquorice, citrus peel, jammy berry, blackcurrant and cocoa with a bitter, roasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Nice balance and high drinkability. Very good.
