Found it in San Francisco and brought back in the luggage to have at home. I was expecting a complete hop bomb, but discovered this is a very well made and very grown up DIPA. Not much to look at, but really well integrated hops that you have to think about. And it grew on my as the pint progressed. Yes, its very good, but I do struggle to understand what all the fuss is about.

On tap at JUXT. Pours clear golden blonde with a white head. Crisp piney hops, like a patch of fir in the winter. Flavour has dry woody pine, gentle herbal accents. It's not mind blowing in hop intensity, but the hops are well expressed and balanced appropriately with the malts. This is the benchmark against which all west coast IPAs should rest.

Pale, bright. Excellent, lots of citrus, bitterness, bit of cannabis, lemon with a clean pale malt base and a bitter weedy finish.

Pours clear gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface and hug rim. Caramel, onion and pine aromas. Thick with hot plastic and saeurkraut front to back. Hot lasting burnt plastic finish. Very confused - this was a fresh bottle - could there be something wrong here?

500ml bottle. Tangerine aroma with orange, peach, grapefruit, currant and floral hops. Pours hazy golden colored with a large white head that has excellent retention and decent, soapy lacing. Starts with juicy tangerine, peach and currant flavors. Finishes smooth but a touch dry with orange, grapefruit and floral hop flavors. Pretty nice hazy.

Smells fabulous! Stone fruit and lightly buttery oak with evident malt even at 5 years of age and despite the (assumedly) highly attenuative wine yeasts and spontanous cultures. Very round, even, well-aged, with no aggressivity whatsoever.
Bright and balanced in the mouth with a surprising levity and little, yet ample acidity. Honey, biscuit, mild oak and tons of stone fruit and pepper dance on the palate. Still retains a "beer-like" character despite all it has going on. Easy-drinking in the sense of a malty blonde ale without any big tartness to slow you down. Not that I'm gulping the thing down, but...you could. A study in balance. This small batch series is a real gem.

Pale gold, bright, thick head. Medium bitterness, lemony, grapefruit. Not as expressive as I’d like but good structure.
