On tap at whip in. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is tequila oak and roast. Thick mouthfeel with strong roast and tequila burn.

22 oz. bottle, pours a near-black with a medium tan / light brown head. Aroma brings out loads of treacle toffee, molasses, caramel and a little booze. Flavour brings out loads of molasses, a little treacle toffee, roasted malt, and some burnt notes. This is rather decadent and amazingly well-rounded, surprisingly -- since the last few Jewbelations have been cloyingly sweet messes. This one, however, is not sweet at all, with a highly roasted, dry and somewhat treacly finish. Really good stuff.

Bottle: Poured a brown red with a thin off white to tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, yeast and a little soapy. Taste is dark fruit figs and dates, soft malts, and tingle to the tongue in the finish.

Opaque black - brown beer. Good head but an odd muted off tan colour. Dry palate, a little crisp. Mild minerals. Bitterish chocolate and a trace of coffee. Sweetish vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon. The dominant taste here is bitterish chocolate. Finishes fresh and semi dry. Nice list of ingredients on this beer but overall they not brought together in a cohesive whole. Getting to be hard work.

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle. Clear amber colour with minimal off white head. Predominant caramel malt aroma with hint of hops. Very nice rye taste over the caramel. Hoppy taste fills out the flavour. Medium body.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, raisin, prune, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt notes with moderate fruitiness; and good strength. Taste of caramel, raisin, toast, toffee, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, chocolate, brown bread, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; with a solid amount of robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice brown ale. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

This nut brown poured a deep black colour with a nice brown, frothy head. Scents include coffee, chocolate, caramel and a little licorice. First sip was smooth and a little watery but flavourful. Flavours of licorice, coffee and roasted caramel. Finish is roasty and smooth.

Bottle 22fl.oz.Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark chocolate, sweet vanilla. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, vanilla, chocolate, peppery. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130223]
