Description

Generation.

At the brewery tap Creamy, off-white head. Almost no lace. Sligtly hazy, golden body. A fresh aroma of flowers, orange, lemonade, ... There’s a medicine, called lycomucil, that smells like. Very well balanced fruity flavour. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter.

Draught at the brewery Creamy, off-white head. Virtually no lace. Clear, amber body. Aroma of fine malts, smoke, smoked bacon - nice sophisticated. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter flavour. This is a nice rauchbier, the smoke is very well balanced with the rest of the beer.

Bottle: Clear amber coloured, smaller, fluffy off-white head; sweetish fruity nose with caramel malts, distinctive aroma of dry, smoked wood; robust sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; bitter-sweet finish becoming rather dry and smoked in the aftertaste. A very pleasant, hearty, complex Rauchbier !

Previous rating50 cl bottle at Pivovarsky Klub in Prague. Dark orange color, small white head. Smoke and tar in the scent. Sweet mixed with smoke and tar in the taste. Rather big mouthfeel compared to "normal" lager beers. Medium bitterness.8/4/8/4/17=4.1 Oct 18, 2006 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm)Clear copper color, huge nice tan head. Malty taste, with some metal, no smoke what so ever. Malty scent, no smoke. Bottle: firm off-white head, hazy, amber coloured, nearly "normal" strong fruity nose: bananas, lemons and cloves, too, smoke barely detectable; astonishingly fresh fruity (citrousy) flavour; finish fruity again with delicate hints of smoke in the aftertaste; medium bodied. A decent, quite fresh and tasty Weizen !

2011-02-12, draught at the brauhaus, 6-5-7-3-13=34
Clean amber color; compact head. Mild aroma of caramel and smoke. The mouthfeel is very dry, the body is lean; caramel flavor, with a delicate smoke presence; correct bitterness.
Easy beer, but well balanced.

2009-02-12, Bayerische Anstich at Akkurat, Stockholm, 7-5-7-3-14=36
Amber color; creamy head. It has a very nice smoked aroma. Some caramel flavor, quite dry, with nice smokey touch; the final is a bit metallic. Good, but I would appreciate more body and sweetness.

2006-03-13, draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 7-5-7-4-14=37
Clean amber color; thick creamy head, wonderful. Sweet smokey aroma. Simple body structure, with a good smokey character and quite nice aromatic hopping. Not my favorite (sweetness is missing) but good.

(bottle, handed over by pivnizub – thanks !) Clear mahogany colour with a foamy beige medium head. Light sweet aroma of dark and toasted malts with caramel, liquorice and a subtle smokiness. Moderately sweet toasted malty flavour and taste with caramel, medium to full bodied, slightly bitter and smoky malty finish with a whiff of herbal hops. Definitely not as smoky as the Schlenkerla Bock, but also a well crafted Bock with its own character.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, Mar 10) Colour is dark amber, with firm head. Smoky, but very well balanced nose with hints of smoked ham and sausages. Smoky, rather sweet taste with hints of smoked sausages and smoked herring. Lighter than Aecht Schlenkerla but more elegant. (7/3/8/3/14=3.5) Rerate: (Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 9 May 2022) Amber colour with frothy, tan head. Malty, smoky nose with rye bread, smoked ham and herbs. Malty taste with notes of smoke, dark bread, wort and a mild herbal bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetnes. Really tasty and well balanced with a good smoke touch. Very nice.

Draught. 6,5%. Very weak hvidtøl aroma. Clear, very dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. Roasted flavour, nicely malty. Smokiness kicks in in aftertaste along with a bit of horse. Quite mild, but nice. Like a really nice Dunkel with a clean and nice smokey aftertaste.
