Very deep garnet, nearly opaque. Large beige rocky and bubbly head. Light aroma with caramel and chocolate primarily, with a touch of roast. Interesting flavor, rounded and sweet up front with more caramel and chocolate. Drying finish, with sufficient roasted flavors and an emergence of hops at the very end. Nutty character emerges as it warms. Nicely complex malt profile, well balanced and integrated. Nicely done.

Reddish amber. Med bubbly Head. Light chocolate and nut aromas with a hint of grassy hops. Clean and light malt palate. Expertly balanced finish with neither malt nor hops standing out. Should be very appealing to a large crowd.

Pale bright copper with med bubbly head. Nearly the color of scotch whiskey. Light malt aroma, hint of apricot, plus herbal hops. Nicely balanced presentation, with a rounded honeyish malt profile with the herbal notes of Fuggles hops.

Very dark burgundy with med head. Quite weak aroma of caramel and bitter chocolate. Light palate, almost velvety with definite chocolate notes. Some woody and herbal hop notes near the finish. It doesn't blow me away, but its an easily quaffable and enjoyable beer, that retains much of a dry stout character.

Hazy copper with large soft head. Peppery orangey aroma. Fresh and sweet up front with a spicy finish. Lingering cherry pit like bitterness. Minty and tangy tones hang around the outside. It didn't pair with food as well as I had hoped (sushi with wasabe) but it was still an enjoyable and fairly complex beer.

Light bronze. Some hops. Earthy, citric, hedgey tasty. Rather light bodied, low in bitterness, low in malt and generally bland for the style.

Dark brown colour. Aroma of peanuts, light roast and brutally oppressive diacetyl. Watery and thin. Lots of diacetyl, also some cheap coffee roastiness. All told, pretty terrible stuff.

Bright copper colour. Aroma is toasty, caramelly, with a slight nuttiness. Slightly sweet accent, with caramel and light toast. Slightly oxidized astringency in the finish.

'Season's Best 2003' on the label. Amber colour with strong ruby highilghits and a dense tan head. The beer actually looks nice! Aroma of spices, nuts, malt and during the pour, a hoppiness which supercedes the Pale Ale! After settling, malt is the primary characteristic of the aroma. Light to Medium-bodied; Subtle maltiness and noticeable hops mellow down to just about nothing. Typical of Saranac beers, this one is a bit watery, but to be perfectly honest, while fresh this one has more hop kick than nuttiness. Aftertaste shows plain hops, no mal t nor nuttiness. Overall, this is more of a 'light' APA than a nut-brown, but I guess if it were to age it would be a brown. Regardless, i'm not trying this again, and I will continue my dislike for Saranac beers. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.

Quite clear, a lighter brown, lots of bubbles moderate white head, that dissipates rapidly. Smells of chocolate malt and some nutty caramelishness. Opens up with a lightly peppery, moderately lagered malt. Quite delicate, decent amount of hops, medium dry on the finish, well balanced. Flavor overall is a bit light, medium light body, bubbly.
