Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.
Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!
In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Cask at Gilpins Bell, W’Spoons, Edmonton, Nth London. Copper coloured pour with off white head. Fruity, fresh aroma. Fruity, hoppy, spicey taste. Rather pleasant.

Cask ... at the bow bar ...dark brown ... hint of red ... light creamy tan head ... dark fruity roast ... nice cherry .... toffe roast ... light charcoal bitterness in finish ... soft mouthfeel. 3.8 cask at cloisters ... dark red brown ... soft woody malts... sweet berry roast ... soft toffee malts .. ok 3.5

29th May 2009. Clear light amber beer. Immediate juicy hoppiness but not that bitter or overwhelming.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 09. Amber, no head. Some buttery hard malt. Not the best bitter in the world, some vague hop on end.

March 2008 Soft black porter with plenty of malt offset by well balanced rich honey. Nicely joined up.

Cask-conditioned at the Castle, Furnival Street, London 06/10/09. Dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, toffee and chocolate. Flavour had plenty more chocolate, some fruity sweetness and a roasty dry finish. Good.

Amber ith a small white head. Aroma of malt and tea, ith a hint of diacetyl. Seetish malty and fruity flavour

Slightly hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of grainy malt, with caramel and green apples. Dry fruity and malty flavour with a bitter finish

cask some where ... light hazy amber ... light fruit hop nose .. soapy grapefruit .. dry bitter linger.

Cask at the Pembury Tavern on 21st July 2009. Amber with short-lived off white head. Citric hops in main kick, otherwise on the sweet side. Quite a viscous, clingy texture with a feeling that the beer wanted to "glue" itself to the roof of the mouth.
