Pretty much a clear amber beer, small bubbly cream colour head. Light palate, smooth, decent fine minerally carbonation emerging late on. Soft light malts, a little creamy sweetness and a touch of caramel go well with oak barrel induced vanilla. Tandy orange and marmalade, bright cooling pine. White wine tang mixing in well. Fruity bourbon barrel coming through late on. Light finish. Very interesting and engaging brew. Expecting the bourbon to dominate and whilst it certainly makes it's presence known, a big part is played by the white wine. Obvs, the hops are cracking on a bit, but enjoying the marmalade aspect. Solid and entertaining brew. Not sure about the dipa aspect but, then again, not sure where else you would put it.

Near clear dark brown beer, decent bubbly tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Slightly thin feeling dark malts but smooth, a little dark chocolate and a mild savoury aspect. Yes, some caramel if you are looking for it, dark caramel and not overly sweet. Good ripe fruits on the back end, dark ripe orange, some fig. Quite a light finish. Not as unusual as I thought it might be but a good brew nonetheless.

Bottle, bb12/27. Amber, a little murky. No head quite manages to form. Spiced doughy bread aroma with Calvados. Perhaps a little gingerbread, brown sugar. Sweet and overtly boozy. Taste follows aroma. A swell of warmth is closed by a bit of oak, spice and maybe bitterness. The overt alcohol works here.

- 1 point for the unnecessary wax. No head whatsoever; pours oily to brown-black beer with reddish reflections. Coffee, chocolate, molasses, bit meaty, chocolate-covered nuts, caramel. Chocolate, bit ashes, fondant, coffee, quite sweet. Fusels. There is some roast, but covered by the cigarette ashes. Syrupy, sticky, chewy. Alcoholheat, almost uncarbonated. Still classic Menno. Txs to Stef!
