Cask at the George IV, Sawbridgeworth. Clear medium amber pour with a broken white head and broken lace. Hints of malt in the aroma. Not much of anything in the flavour it has to be said which has some weak bitterness and a weak watery palate. Given the picture of a hop on the hand pull clip I was expecting something a little more flavourful and satisfying than this.

Cask at George IV, Sawbridgeworth. Dark amber pour with a thin white head and bags of lace. Nice fruity aroma leading to a very smooth bitter taste which lingers on the palate forever. A very tasty, refreshing and drinkable session beer.

On cask at the Vine in Waltham Cross - a fine looking ale, nice bronze with a solid white head that laces throughout, but surely this is an IPA in the same way as Greene King’s version. It isn’t. It has a hopped tang, and decent after taste, but it isn’t an IPA.

Cask at the Heron on the Lake, Fleet. Copper with a dense cream head; rich, malty aroma; soft, with a caramel malt flavour; some dusty English hops giving a gentle finish with a touch of spice.

Cask at the Heron on the Lake, Fleet. Amber with a loose white head; simple malty aroma; clean malty flavour, with a rather soapy body; the finish is bready with some soft green hops and a burst of citrus. Very moreish.

Cask @ The The Nags Head, London. Almost clear, deep golden body with a small white head. Light aroma of malt and not much more. Flavor is sweet malty, some toast and a light grassy bitterness. Medium and average on body, aftertaste and everything else. Pretty average all together, but a drinkable session ale if the alternative is mainstream lager.

Cask @ The The Nags Head, London. Almost clear, deep golden body with a small white head. Not much aroma here, light malt, bread and a tiny hint of fruit. Not much flavor either, mild malt, light caramel, hint of fruit and moderate bitterness. Like a quite ordinary English bitter. Medium body and a modearate aftertaste. Totally drinkable but close to boring.

Cask at Nag’s Head, Covent Garden, London. Reddish amber color, medium spongy off-white head, hoppy sour taste with doughy aroma, medium carbonation, long finish. Nice bitter.
