On cask at Ryries. Pale with a light rose colour. Annoyed I like this with the adjunct side of things. It smells and tastes of fresh raspberry with a layer of oatmeal beneath. Cranachan without the whisky.

On tap at Deva Tap, Chester. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. The aroma is indistinct but is basically roasted malts. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with roasted malts and cola plus hints of honey and vanilla. A little bitterness in the finish. Well it’s OK, but rather bland to say the least.

Hand-pulled cask ale, half pint, shared with Finn. Almost black in the glass, shiny naked surface, scattered lacing. Attractive aromas, hints of berry skins and ripe plums. Rich and nicely blended flavours of chocolate, plums, earth, and dark berries, slightly woody. Smooth, long-lived tail, lightly roasted. Fine depth to it. Good drinking!

330ml bottle at bod, Matlock. Mid-brown and clear, translucent. Very little head. I expected a lot of cherry aroma but I am not getting it. A bit of sweet fruit, some cola and a little dark malt. Taste is also not Runaway sweet but rather quite balanced with an avoiding bitterness gaining traction nearer the finish. Medium body, heavy carbonation. After having the reserve plum porter a while back, I had high hopes for this. Sadly it wasn't great.
