Draft at tap room. Pour is a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is malty and musty. Flavor is malty and bready but finishy very watery and thin. So-so.

Deep red-brown body, somewhat translucent, thick beige head. Buttery, roasty, coffee aroma. Coffee dominated the body, with notes of butter and ever-present roasted malts. Medium-bodied. Unremarkable; nothing separates this from other stouts of average repute.

Amber with a slight red tint, somewhat hazy, and a smallish if firm head. Restrained aroma hints at smoke, metal, light syrup, but its all really weak, the aroma is bareley there. Flavor smooth and mild, somewhat on the sweet side, but a light spicy hop provides complement. Light wheat bread finish. Medium body. I just can’t get past the lack of any detectable aroma and flavor here. Everything is just barely hinted at - yet you’d expect that in a light bodied beer, but this beer feels like it has something in the mouth, it just doesn’t taste like it.

Pour is golden with a small white head. Aroma is pure sugar with a touch of citrus. Flavor is wonderful. Lots of citrus,banana and candy cane sugar. An outstanding example of the style brewed right here in my own backyard.

Pour is a almost bright red with a white head. Aroma is caramel and hops. Flavor is a nice mix of hops and roasted malts that leaves a nice nutty aftertaste after the swallow. This could be one of the best Alt’s I have ever had.

Hop in the City: While I liked many of Schlafly’s beers, this was not one of them. It was underwhelming with its light lager-hop flavor below an overcoating of rye. Its subdued aroma offered little that was inviting — weak malts and a touch of grain. Overall: Average.

Hop in the City: Pine and grapefruit aroma revealed the hops in this beer, but the nose was not near as aromatic as other Cascade hopped beers. Medium body and moderately bitter flavor with notes of grapefruit and sweet malts. The bitterness does linger. Thought this should have had a crisper edge to it.

Hop in the City: The rye flakes are noticeable in both the aroma and flavor and I wasn’t so sure they added much to this flavorful bitter. But they did add another dimension and that’s always interesting. The aroma, besides the rye, was filled with floral hops and malts. The flavor, below the rye, was of malts with a nice bitter aftertaste from the hops.

Hop in the City: This is a nice sipping imperial stout though not as thick in body or mouthfeel as other imp stouts I have had which is nice. It has notes of chocolate, roasted malts and hops in the aroma. The flavor is full of malts, coffee and sweet chocolate with a slight hop presence and a bit of smoke. Enjoyable.

Hop in the City: Sweet malts dominate this brew as advertised. More medium body than full. It is smooth enough and enjoyable enough, but doesn’t have the sweet/alcohol kick nor richness of malt I expected in this Scotch ale. Bottle. Small, frothy, diminishing head. Body is a dark brown. Light aroma of roasted grain and some caramel. Hint of peat. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body with a water texture — yet some stickiness in the finish. Lively carbonation. Better than my first exposure to it, but still fairly average.
