2004 bottle @ the DCMDVA gathering courtesy of Hopscotch. Pours a solid golden color, small white head. Aroma of lemon, light yeast and mineral/wheaty notes. Flavor is light lemon, notes of metal, light yeast. Very watery, with little wheat substance. Fizzy, plain, rather boring and just way too thin. Carbonation attacks the palate and interupts the palate. American wheats do not have to be like this.

Deep golden color under a lively white head that lays above the body of the beer. Yeasty, doughy aroma. The flavor is light malt with a palate that starts way back on the sides of the tongue with some acidic biterness and then move sforward as the malty sweetness appears. Body is somewhat thin, but this is drinkable and is a far better brew from the state of Missouri than the "popular" alternative. Thanks to Hopscotch for this one!

Pours a cloudy yellow with a nice sized head. Does not look like a typical pilsner. Aroma is a malt hops combo. Flavor is very hoppy. Probably one of the more hoppy pils I have ever had. Overall not a bad attempt.

Pours a cloudy orange. Aroma is very flowery and yeasty. Flavor is excellent. Very fruity and yeasty with some bitterness at the end. There is actually a very strong banana flavor. My first Saison and if this is even run of the mill for saison’s then I am hooked.

Pours a very bright yellow. Aroma is fruity and fizzy. Flavor is also fruit with just enought yeasty goodness. Very light but satisfying brew.

Pours a nice deep red. Aroma is fruity and malty. Flavor is earthy,fruity and quite hoppy. Just as good in the winter as summer. A decent attempt!

Pours a copper out of the bottle with a nice white head. Aroma is malt but the flavor is mostly hops. That’s not all bad but you could use a little malt with the citrus hop flavor. Not a bad brew but something is missing.

Pours a nice copper color with big soda pop type bubbles. Aroma is malty and the flavor is super malty with a spicy kick to it. Leaves a nice roasted flavor on the pallet. A good effort for this style.

Draft, at Soulard Ale House, St. Louis (as Schlafly Expedition). My server didn’t know what style this was, so I guessed, and guessed wrong. I thought its taste tended toward the Belgian side, with dense malt flavor under a milk-foam head. I did catch the American Pale Ale hops, which put on a good spice show against the strong malts. Well done, everyone! Take five!

Draft, Soulard Ale House, St. Louis. A thin head atop some sticky golden malt gives it more of an Oktoberfest feel. But there’s a flavorful hop profile that gives it a nice peppery note atop a trace of citrus. Very refreshing.
