Description
Brewing began in 2011 using a two-barrel plant in the grounds of the Benleva Hotel. The brewery moved in 2012 to nearby premises using an eight-barrel plant.

Went into liquidation in mid-2016 after which the brand and recipes bought by Cairngorm and continue to be brewed

Cask @ Barrels Ale House, Berwick. Dark brown/black colour, creamy foam. Soft carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and some caramel. Well balanced. Easy drinkable. Good stout for this low ABV.

Cask @ Barrels Ale House, Berwick. Golden colour, white foam. Crispy aroma with notes of grapefruit and tropical fruit. Bitter hoppy finish. Easy drinkable. Good Pale ale.

Cask @ Northern Taps, Huddersfield. Deep copper-amber with small creamy head. Has plenty of good tasting malt with a medium to high bitterness. Nice and crisp.

Cask@GBBF 2014, London (13/08/2014) - pours gold with a white head. Grassy and hoppy tropical fruity aroma and taste, with a good bitter finish.

Flaske delt på på RBDH-samlingen hos Asle Bjørn: rødbrun med kort, storboblet skum. Lukter tang, fjære og grunnsmøring. Treverk, vanilje og sure sokker. Sære greier, her trenger jeg lang tilvenning.

Flaske, hentet fra dypet av Fridtjofen, og delt på RBD-samlingen hos Asle Bjørn: flott skum. Aroma av mørke malter, skokrem og gjær. I tillegg er der noe kjemikalieaktig i smaken. Som sur kaffe som har blitt stående lenge på trakteren? En særpreget bitter, for å si det diplomatisk. "Interesting" ville kanskje en høflig engelskmann sagt.

Reddish brown. Small beige head. Peat and burnt print cards in aroma. Well balanced taste. Bittter wood and peat in long aftertaste.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting, ABV is 7.1%. Fairly dark reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Fairly strong aroma av peat smoke and tar, some sweetish vinous notes in the background. The flavour is first medium sweet, and ends dry and ashy. Strong notes of peat smoke throughout.

Dark copper. Beige head. Aroma of dark, bitter malts, yeast and shoe polish. A bit waterish mouthfeel. Sour and slightly burned coffee, as well as amber malt in taste.
