Pours bright deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head meringues as it recedes leaving spotted sheets. Sweet hay and bread aromas. Dry, sweet candi and mild hops from front to back and through the lasting finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a quite large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light citrus notes with piney hops is quite intense. Taste is more hop-centric then other beers from this series with also a solid caramel malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed and surprisingly one of my favourite from this series with more intense hoppiness.

Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver
Beautiful copper color; medium sized head. Mild aroma of caramel, fudge, milk. Good body strength; caramel flavor, with malt, and a good earthy character, harsh in the good way, but also some delicate aromatic hopping. Very balanced and well brewed.

Black color; generous beige head, compact. The aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malt is light, with a very light touch of coffee and dry cold smoke. The body is medium structured, the drinkability is therefore eased; without being too strong, the roasted malt flavor is very good, almost coffeish, with some residual sweetness, with a late impression of liquorice; finally, in the end, the alcohol warms the mouth. Elegant Imperial Stout.

Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver; parallel with Herkules Double IPA, bottled on August 2010 (at least fresher than the Herkules)
Beautiful amber color; medium sized compact head; a shade darker than the Herkules. Mild aroma, light hops, resins, bitter oranges. Very good malt flavor, caramel, with a very light residual sweetness; good hopping, not excessive, with a very nice toffee and oranges profile. Good bitterness level, and the balance of this beer perfectly hides the alcohol and the high IBU level.
Not extreme, instead a beautiful brew.

Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver; parallel with Columbus Double IPA; bottle on April 2010, almost 1 year old (sic)
Beautiful amber color; medium sized compact head; a shade lighter than the Columbus. The aroma is more woody, oaky than hoppy; a bit creamy. Sweetish caramel and toffee flavor, with a light puckery note. Correct bitterness; the hop gives also a light fruit touch, and only light resins. A very average Double IPA, pale compared to the Columbus, maybe also because it was in the shop for too long.

Bottle shared by someone at the post EBF tasting, thanks! Poured a clear gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a nice pine note with a bit of citrus as well as some sweet grains. Flavor started with sweet grains with a growing hop presence with grapefruit and then pine coming out.
