Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Shared with Keen. Clear amber beer. Residual bubbly off white head. Smooth palate. Low carbonation. Lots of sweet caramel malt. Some trace of hop in the smooth finish but this an unbalanced beer. Manages not too be offensive though!

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Quite much pitch black colour, not too much of a head. Aroma is blackberries and some mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is blackberries as well as slightly roasted malts and some toffee as well. The blackberries hides most of the other things in the beer rather bigtime.

Heavy texture, hence a good winter ale, but average in its fruity flavours.

Cask at Blackfriars, Aberdeen. It pours black, with a ruby tinge and a foamy beige head. The nose is chocolate, dark fruit, charcoal and soap. The taste is chocolate, liquorice, varnish, cherry, dark fruit, roasted malt, charcoal and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium to full body, fine carbonation, velvety mouth-feel and good balance. Nice.

(on tap) Copper brown with good head. Aroma has toffee notes and is slightly smokey. Medium body, well carbonated. Refreshing fruity start with nice caramel middle and slight bitter finish. Overall a nice beer.
