Description
In 1981, Peter Mauldon, the great grandson of Anna Maria decided to re-establish the family tradition and start a brewery in Sudbury once again. Peter had been too young to be involved in the original family business and had previously pursued a career with Messrs. Watney where he progressed to Head Brewer at the company’s large Mortlake Brewery.

Cask at GBBF 08. Gold, bit of a haze. thin off white head. Bit rubbery, may be not 100% ready, but the real beer is there somewhere. Shame as I like this brewery. Not quite settled. Rubber isn’t great up front. Shame. Will re-rate.

[cask at the North Wiltshire Beer Festival]. Rich, oaky, surprisingly dry aftertaste, a very good if slightly unusual mild.

[cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Smoke and coffee on the nose. Tastes of coffee & coca cola, like a sweeter smoother guinness without the carbonation. A hint of smoke in the flavour, lots of treacle, some plummy fruit, and quite sweet and syrupy (but not unpleasantly so) by the end.
