Description
We focus our attention on brewing rustic, unfiltered, aromatic beers that are approachable and unique. We pull from our home brewing background to build beers that pay homage to tradition, but break new ground in American brewing techniques and flavors by blurring the line between beer and wine. We are brewers of big ideas in very small batches.

8.6/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 9 Flavor 9 Texture 8 Overall 8.5
Poured from a 500 ml bottle.
Aroma is malt forward and full of dark chocolate, toffee, dark caramel, tootsie rolls and roast. Lighter bourbon and alcohol notes. Light oak notes with hints of almond, vanilla and honey.
Pours jet black with a medium large, thick, mocha head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers on the edges. No lacing and very long legs.
Flavor is rather sweet with lots of toffee, dark caramel, tootsie rolls and chocolate. Lighter roast notes with hints of honey. Medium bitterness and medium high alcohol notes. Medium bourbon notes with light oak. Hints of nuts and vanilla.
Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and moderate alcohol warmth.
Overall, solid barrel-aged imperial stout. Tons of barrel character that works nicely with the malt notes. Alcohol is present but works well with the malt and adds nice complexity. Reminds me of Private Press...

7.6/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 7.5 Flavor 7.5 Texture 8 Overall 7.5
Poured from a 750 ml bottle.
Aroma is fairly fruity with lots of plum and plum liquor notes. Light grain notes. Hints of oak and alcohol. Hints of lemon and prune notes.
Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange with a medium small, moderately thick, white head that recedes quickly to a small film that lingers on the edges. No lacing and small legs.
Flavor is somewhat acidic and a bit sharp with light grain notes. Light bitterness and light alcohol notes. Fairly strong plum notes, a bit fruity but also enriched and liquored. Hints of prunes as well. Faint oak notes.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a fine beer but it was too acidic and a bit hot. The plum notes are nice and complex with supporting oak. The base saison notes don't really make it through the plum much. A fun beer, but I generally like the non fruited beers from SARA.

Aroma is fruity with the SARA funk notes of stone fruit, green grapes and lemons. Nice herbal notes that compliment the funky notes nicely. Light grain and faint oak and alcohol notes.
Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange with a medium large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and small legs.
Flavor is a bit sweet with a medium light, but fairly well rounded, acidity. Light grain notes. Medium bitterness and light alcohol notes. Fruity with notes of stone fruit, lemon and grapes. The mugwort and wormwood come through and interact nicely with the fruit and acidity as they longer into the finish. Hints of oak.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a solid saison. The herbal notes work really well with the SARA funky fruit notes. The herbs add a bit of a bitterness that lingers.

6.5/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 6.5 Flavor 5.5 Texture 7 Overall 6.5
Poured from a 500 ml bottle.
Aroma is fruit and barrel forward. Quite a bit of cherry notes but there is also a fairly strong herbal note with a bit of an anise character. Lighter malt notes with dark caramel, toasted bread, and hints of chocolate. Light alcohol notes.
Pours a dark auburn / burnt sienna color with amber and ruby hues and a medium sized, moderately thick, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where a small film lingers. Moderate lacing and moderately long legs.
Flavor is a somewhat sweet but also fairly tart with medium light notes of caramel, toffee and toasted bread. Hints of chocolate. Medium bitterness and medium light alcohol notes. Quite a bit of tart cherry juice character. Lighter barrel character in the flavor but still some herbal, anise notes that become more pronounced as it warms.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, this is a weird one. I was not expecting this to be so tart and it was a bit surprising because at first you get the sweetness and are expecting a typical dubbel. The cherry notes are nice and work well with the herbal notes from the barrels, but I'm not sure the dubbel malty enough to carry those strong aromas and flavors. Some people may like this but for me its a big miss.

Aroma is blueberry forward but there are still some nice SARA saison notes that come through with hints of the barrel, some light lemon, some stone fruit and hints of phenolics. Light grain and alcohol notes. Blueberry notes area bit juicy and jammy.
Pours a deep, dark purple color with a small, thin, pinkish purple head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and small legs.
Flavor is a bit sweet with a light acidity and light grain notes. Medium bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong blueberry notes that are nice and jammy and fruity. Light tanning and must notes. Light SARA funk and hints of oak.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a solid blueberry saison and much better than the club one I reviewed the day before. The blueberry notes here are much fruitier and the base beer comes through better.
