Description

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Italian Beer Week-end / Zwanze 2014 CML. Amber, creamy white head. Grapefruit hop nose, USA hops with lots of candy sugar. Taste is creamy candy, grass, lots of sugar, light herbal, touch pine hops in the back. Biscuit. Taste is slick creamy. Nice beer but there is far too much candy sugar taste here for an IPA.

Draught Fluffy, disparate greige head over virtually black beer; Very nice burnt/roasted nose, with roast meat, charcoal, nuts, ash-charred chestnuts, and hints at portwine. Light, but awfully nice burnt/charred flavour. Very dry, faintly coffee-like (if less dense), (over)roasted nuts. Light body, bonedry. Not even much carbonation. Good porter, even remarkable considering its ABV. I’d like to experience another night in Toscane...

Draught Copper-orange clear beer, under a small, just off-white head. Nutty, lightly roasted malts, faint bitterness suggested. Faintly roasted and very bitter; rather crude bitterness. Again nutty, walnutpeel. Medium bodied, medium slickness, oily to nearly viscous. I’m not convinced. This tastes too much as a Belgian traditional brewery attempting an IIPA, and of course being miles off the right track. OK beer, but it’s freewheeling into obliviousness, no doubt.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s post GBBF minidig, 16/08/14. Golden amber with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is citric peel, bitter orange, light floral notes, spice, faint grapefruit. Taste comprises orange pith, light pine coating, bitter tropical notes, light spice. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. So so IPA, low end of the spectrum, disappointing as their APA was great!

26th August 2014
Bright clear gold beer, tidy off white head. Palate is light and crisp, mild minerals. Light malts provide a modicum of sweetness. Nice floralness, underpinned by a smooth orange citrus. Finishes light and mildly crisp. A very smooth and fresh tasting pale ale. Very drinkable.

Hopfelia Foglie D’erra Rated on June 7th, 2014. Pours with a massive head, stays for long. Leaves nice lacing. Color is amber. Aroma is lighter, not too overpowering, hoppy but easygoing. Not much malt in the base. Taste is nice, delicate and subtle. Bitterness is there, body is lighter, good drinkability. Citrus character. Good water has been used for brewing. Leaves behind some nice lingering bitterness. Good beer, 7% strong session IPA - if I may say so.

Sampled from bottle @ ChrisO after GBBF day 3. Clear dark orange color, average to medium sized off-white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, but it also has some dishwasher water in it. Taste lightly malts, quite hoppy, quite bitter, some fruit peel. Lingering fruit peel bitterness. Decent body and carbonation. Decent.
