Magnum thanks to Daniel. Pours a cloudy orange gold with a small white head. The aroma is white grape and wood. Light body, apple skin, grape, light funk, tart, very nice.

Sour grape ale aged in bourbon barrels through which an imperial stout has already passed apparently - interesting idea. Sample at the Wild festival in Groningen. Open and loose, small-bubbled, off-white, dissolving 'head', murky ochre-tinged caramel brown robe (I guess I had the end of the bottle there). Aroma of ground hazelnuts, grape skin, caramel, soggy biscuit, wet wood, green apple, plum peel, pear, sweet sherry, medlar. Tart onset, strong sour grape effect with notes of green pear and apple at the sides, softish carb but still with minerally effects, full hazelnutty and bit biscuity malt core dried by lactic and fruit sourness, a tad lemony and grape skin-astringent in the end, especially when the tannins of the oak wood set in, making for a dry, bit earthy finish with a strong oxidized sherry-like aspect to it; stonefruit acidity and astringency remain however strong till the last drop. Not the easiest sour, but certainly rich, complex and multi-layered - this brewery rarely disappoints when it comes to postmodern sour ales, that much is clear. I especially liked the malty character in this one, the fruit is there and does what it is supposed to do, but does not rule the whole beer single-handedly, leaving room for a multitude of other aspects to shine.

Oak aged sour ale with plum, at Wild in Groningen. Moussy, shred-lacing, medium thick, pale off-pinkish-white, breaking head, cloudy tomato red robe with vermillion hue. Aroma of red plum, redcurrant, sourdough, rhubarb, red apples, minerals, tree leaves, rosehip, cherry tomato salad sprinkled with lime juice. Mildly tart onset, red and yellow plum effects, fleshy but not too sweet, cassis and red apple accents; astringent stonefruit accent over a medium carbonated, bit minerally, slick wheaty core, drying lactic sourness working together with the fruit sourness, lime-like in the end but nowhere harshly burning. Fruitiness and juiciness remain intact till the end, with a vinous aspect and light herbal notes. Interesting plum sour, easily drinkable and quite complex, with the wild fermentation given equal attention as the fruit itself.

I was hoping to try this, cause it sounds nuts! And it is! Definitely habanero in the smell, true peppers. Got some heat for sure, but nothing too extreme, just a slight burn. Taste is of peppers, and sour. Weird, unbalanced, fun!

Bottle. Color: Reddish copper, beige head. Sparkling, a lot of tiny bubbles coming up in the glass for a long time. Aroma: Fruity grapes, red and dark fruit notes, vinuous, sweetish, some Bourbon when standing longer. Taste: Fruity, bit vinuous, grapes, grapeskin, tannins. Subtle notes of red fruit. Oak wood. Moderate sweet, light to moderate tart, very light bitterness. I don't recognize much of the Bourbon and Stout, only hints. Stronger Bourbon hints, going to subtle Bourbon notes when standing longer. Funky wild yeast. Medium body, below average carbonation. Wry and dry finish, astringent mouthfeel. Very nice complexity.
