Bottle 185 of 350 (50cl bottles), bought at De Bierboom from my mate Rudy (one of the so called 'Vier Monniken', or four Monks). This is a lovely beer if like me you have a sweet tooth and an alcoholic leaning. It's just a great Russian style Imp Stout with everything you'd expect with a bucket load of extras! Dark, interesting and very, very drinkable.

33cl bottle given to me by one of the 'Four Monks' (Vossen Rudy from de Bierboom). This was a prototype and 13.5% ABV. Drank on 19th apr 2020 during the virus 'lock-In', some 18 months after being given the bottle. It's a lovely smooth, boozy dark brew with a short lasting tanned top. Malty and semi-sweet with dark chocolate and light coffee esters and flavours. very drinkable!

2 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Cloudy black, lasting, small, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of green apple (acetaldehyde), vanilla, bourbon, chocolate ganache, dates, black pepper. Taste has sweet dates covered in chocolate with a dash of cream & vanilla, going over bitter black pepper & fondant with a woody backbone. Dryish, toasty, chocolatey finish, dash of peppery hops & warming bourbon alcohol, giving off a late vanilla effect. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Aroma has the expected 'youngness' of a BA beer but tastewise clean, correct & enjoyable.

1 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, Kevin, Niels & Cynthia! Clear golden, lasting, small, foamy, white head. Aroma of pure absinthe, 'pastis', aniseed, liquorice, vague apricot. Taste has pure aniseed, a bit fruity & doughy but overly spicy, sweet & spicy liquorice in essence; spicy finish, yeasty, vaguely hoppy, expected warming absinthe alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. This is way too much for me - sorry Rudy!
