Description
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.

In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.

‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.

Closed in 2024. In 2925 the brewery site and equipment taken over by Titsey Brewery to use as a 2nd location. Subsequent Cronx beers startes to be brewed again.

Taste comprises malty notes, hot wheatabix, toffee, light fruit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitterness in the close. Ok bitter.

Cask at the moon under water Watford jdw. Golden colour with a lasting white head. Light haze. Aroma is subdued grassy hop and biscuit malt. Domed medicinal character. Flavour is spicy rye bread and caramel malt. Light spicy hop in the finish. Creamy palate with moderate carbonation. Its a well made beer, but it doesn’t do anything for me.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Aroma has hints of straw, hay, husk, very subtle fruity hints of peach. Taste is not that far from water - straw, a chalky touch, minimally sweet, subtle fruity hints of peach. Nothing wrong in taste, but very simple, light, anaemic, no flesh on an already weak backbone.

500ml bottle. Clear dark copper colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Earthy aroma, hints of moss, forest soil, rotten spruce, a nuttily touch. Taste is mild malty, earthy with a woody nuttily touch, hints of juniper berry. Too many dull earthy flavours like a handful of forest soil solved in a glass of water, lacks a light and refreshing component.
