0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before December 2023. Slightly hazy, orangeish amber with a thin, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, moderately fruity-floral aroma of honey, dried apricot and a touch of vanilla. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, a little sourish, gently malty, a bit fruity-floral taste of honey, dried apricot, sultanas and some vanilla, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a little tart and a bit herbal finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent and a bit fizzy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite interesting but somehow those 'Waldbiere' impress me less and less.

Sweetish, slightly fruity and minimally herbal aroma of caramel, honey, some almond and a touch of apricot. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently fruity and minimally herbal taste of caramel, honey, some almond and a touch of apricot, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little woody-dry and minimally herbal finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A rather inoffensive brew, I probably don't really get the influence of the wild service tree.

Bottle from Bier-Adventskalender Austria edition 2019. Slightly hazy deep copper-golden colour with a small white head. Woody nose. Full-bodied with hints of vanilla and whiskey. Smooth on the palate.

Getrunken mit einigen Kollegen und mitgebracht von einer Kollegin, deren Freund bei den Bundesforsten arbeitet und daher an der Quelle ist. Inzwischen habe ich schon einige Waldbiere getrunken und muss sagen, dass dieses Bier jenes ist, welches sich am einfachstem trinken ließ. DIe Elsbeere ist eine kleine, meist trockene, rote Waldbeere, aus der man normalerweise südteuren Schnaps brennt. Mehrere Gemeinden in Niederösterreich rühmen sich Elsbeer-Wanderwegen Die Basis ist ein Red Ale, welche mit dem Saft von Elsbeeren versetzt wurde. Optisch ist es eher bräunlich-dunkel und hat so gut wie keinen Schaum. Geschmacklich kommt auf den erdigen süßlich-malzigen Red-Ale-Kern die zitronig-erdbeerigen Elsbeer-Aromen. Es ist wunderbar ausgewogen und stellt ein Bier dar, das Aromenfetischisten als auch einfache Bierfreunde erfreut.

Bottle. Thanks Tim. Interesting. Very soft, low carb. Aroma is boozy, sweet fruitiness, marzipan. Taste is interesting, apricot, lots of fruit, bit sweet, feels a little like a barley wine. Nice.

Bottle at ABC. Golden color with medium white head. Aroma of sweet malt, candies, wood, whiskey. Taste, very sweet with whiskey, wood, candies, caramel. God dessert beer.

0.33l bottle from herrklemann, thanks Klemens. Lightly hazy golden with a small white head, lot of sediment suspended in the beer. Aroma is sweet and floral, cherry blossom, honey. Taste is moderately sweet, honeyed, floral, slightly medicinal finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
