Polycask at Banbury Beer Festival, Oxon, 07-05-09 Pours looking every bit like a glass of tap water. Tastes like sugared water with some appley flavour. There is no doubt that this was popular amongst some of the cider crowd, but for me this was the worst cider on offer by a country mile, though I suspect that it may well be one of the first cider’s to sell out. On tap at the Old Green Tree, Bath 07/05/09. This was the most expensive pint of cider I have ever bought - £3.20. Unfortunately, the enjoyment obtained from drinking it was in no way proportionate. Pale amber with no head and moderate carbonation. Aroma had some dry apple peel and sweet juice. Flavour had some dry tannins up front, but degenerated into a mush of sweetness. Poor and, given the price, painful.

Cask (handpump) @ Marble Arch Inn, 73 Rochdale Rd, Manchester, Greater Manchester England M4 4HY.
Clear medium yellow color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is green pear, flowers, rubber. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20090121]

Bag in a box at Ship & Mitre April Fest 08. Very pale green/gold. Nail varnish remover aroma. But in the mouth, completely different. Sweet, kiddie’s sweet, raspberry and pear. Just a bit too sweet. A bit of sharpness on finish. 7.0% ABV

Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre April Fest 08. So pale it looks like water with a greenish tinge. Paleist cider I’ve ever had. Apple juice aroma, bit of wood. A bit like appletize, but less carbonated. Alcohol isn’t evident in flavour, but is present in your head. Fairly simple apple juice cider, faint heat from alcohol. OK, but lacks depth and character. 8.4% ABV

Polypin at Banbury Beer Festival 08-05-08 Pours a stunning reddy orange colour with great clarity. I found this to be very sweet (supposed to be dry!) admittedly there was a slight dryness towards the end. I cannot get away from a sacchriney artificial sweetness unfortunately, tastes powdery in the mouth, not my thing apples are very much bit players here, and yet I’m almost on my own with my views (poured the last third away) this stuff appears to be very popular.

Draught. Fresh, acidic apple aroma. Mouthpuckering flavour (which I like here), but aftertaste is horrible: watery, artificial and sugary.

A yellow cider with no head. The aroma is light and of apples. The flavor is from good cider apples - and it is a cider with a good palate. A good cider.
