Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours a very very dark brown almost black colour with a reddish hue and a large thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, cherries, fruit cake, chocolate, caramel, brown bread and liquorice. Taste has lots more dry dark fruits, cherries, red berries, fruit cake, chocolate, caramel, molasses and brown bread. There is a hint of sweetness which is balanced out beautifully with light roasted malts and earthy hops on the finish. Full body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Great strong English Ale!

500ml bottle, over a year past it’s BBD now (found at my grandma’s house). Aroma of sweet malts, mild citrus hops. Taste is malty, sweet, faint citrus and berry hops, bittersweet finish. Light-medium bodied. Not bad considering its age and poor keeping. But too sweet.

5/8/2022. Cask at GBBF 2022, day 4. Pours clear dark amber brown with a frothy just off-white head. Good looking beer. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, bread, nutty edge. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. Oily, soft carbonation. Quite nicely done.

Rocky beige head on a copper coloured body. Fruity, malt & spicy aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & creamy with sharp back. Malt, caramel, chocolate & berry tastes with a long bitter finish. Decent.

Cask @ Percy Shaw, Halifax. Golden with a creamy head. Its gin notes are evident in its aroma but has a more mildly sweet hoppy taste with a mild spiced kick.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton – though have drunk it many times before. Pours a deep ruby with a medium sized off-white head. There’s a pleasant fruity, malty aroma here. In the mouth there are autumn rfuits, malts and caramel, with a hint of toffee. Later on some grains can be detected. Finish is malty. This is OK, without being anything out of the ordinary. Have had better Exmoor beers.
