Description
We are an Independent Family Brewer based in Dudley which has brewing on the same site since 1915.

The Brewery is still run by the fourth generation of The Holden Family and whilst they all enjoy a very much hands on approach to the business, they are still just as committed to their proud history and heritage and to the generations to come.

Cask (handpump) @ Crown Inn, Stockport, Cheshire England SK6 6JY.Clear medium to dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, berry. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to light moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (280708)

Cask (handpump) @ Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield, Bedfordshire England S3 8GG.On RateBeer Sheffield "Valley of beer" Crawl 2008. Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and light light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. (260708)

Cask, Stillage, Ship and Mitre, Liverpool. Surely a beer named after the mighty Bristol Rovers could have a bit more life about it ??!! Dark golden and malty, but oh so boring. Instantly forgettable.

Cask@EBF2008. Golden colour with particles floating around. Small head. Aroma is fruits and some hops with mild bitterish grassy notes. Flavour is the same with mild notes of grass and wood.

Cask at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Clear deep golden. Sweaty hay aroma. Medium dry with dense mouthfeel. Salty and buttery, chewy and pleasantly hoppy with long bitterness. A pleasant light bitter.

Cask at EBF. Creamy white fair mostly deminishing head. Brown colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Modrate bitter flavor. Light roasted. Average finish. Oily palate.

Bottle at EBF08 as Holden’s Mild. Good sweetish malt aroma. Subtle but nice flavour. Mild roastedness. Clear brown colour. 5 3 5 3 13

Bottle from Sainsbury. Gold, thin ivory head. Some hop on aroma. Some diacetyl to be honest. Yep, definitely buttery. Not sure if its intentional, but I don’t like butter in my beer. Yep, way too buttery.

Cask at EBF 2008, on Saturday September 13Clear dark copper color, small white head. Fruity, roasted, malty tsate. Fruity and malty scent. A bit weak mouthfeel, low bitterenss.
