Black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted, mild liquorice as well as some slight burnt sugary notes. Flavour is very similar in a nice balance. Felt heavier than just 5 % abv.

An almost black one, at least dark brown, with a small, beige head. The aroma is a bit weak I think, roasted and licorice-ish, with a touch of coffee and caramel. It’s lightly sweet on the palate, with a soft carbonation level. Semi-sweet. Caramel, licorice notes, coffee and roasted malts in the flavor. Lasting finish. An honest beer indeed, but I’m bored. 150227

Süßlich malziger Antrunk mit leichter, tendenziell steigender Herbe. Die Malznoten weisen Lactonoten auf, mild, süffig. Gut. 10/9/10/9//9

Got in a trade with RaulMondesi. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy deep golden color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with goof retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, passion fruit, melon, berry, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, passion fruit, melon, berry, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, passion fruit, melon, berry, orange peel, pine, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. Seems to be very big on Mosaic hop flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light bitter chocolate malt with coffee notes, grassy hops, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate, licorice notes, very nice and smooth. Cask Days 2014.

My second beer from this brewery: 14th July 2014 at a beer tasting evening with Indian food at The Clay Oven, Irvine CA. Farmyard without any horse blanket smells or tastes, I’m happy with that! Hazy golden pour with a hint of a head settled on top. Mixed bag of aromas, fruit, both citrus and tropical, yeast, maltiness and spices: the taste a little bitterer than the smell indicated but still an interesting take on a style that I sometimes struggle to enjoy, this one I did. Medium bodied and nicely made all round.

14th July 2014: Clay Oven, Irvine CA, Beer Night with Indian food. This beer was my first sample of what turned into a heavy drinking but most enjoyable evening. Clear almost orange body, bit darker than orange though, small white head. Floral hop nose with some semi-sweet maltiness in the background. The taste was hops first and foremost, but fairly gentle with tropical fruit sweetness within the flavour to balance out the usual bitterness from the aforementioned hops. I liked it, good depth of flavours with a body that suited the alcohol content nicely.
