Fra håndpumpe på The Mossy Well, Muswell Hill (London): klar kobber med ok skum. Beskjeden aroma men meget god smak med deilig, lett citruspreget bitterhet i en god maltkropp. Quaffable indeed.

Keg at Baxter’s Court, JDW - Hackney. Pours mostly clear gold, lightly effervescent, with a lasting, fluffy whipped creamy topping. The aroma holds leafy and floral hops, some aged citrus peel, crusty pale bread. Light sweet flavour with assertive grassy bitterness, cheap white bread, stale citrus peel, pale grains, husk. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more grassy and floral hops, simple dried pale bread, more husky grains, a little meringue, slight astringency. Not the best.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 29 Oct 2016) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, chocolate and roasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced porter. Nice one.

Cask-conditioned at the Red Lion & Pineapple (JDW), Acton 30/1/2017. Near black in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Aroma of charred malts and milk chocolate. Flavour had roasted malts, more sweet chocolate and a hint of spice, before a thin, slightly sweet, finish. Ok.

Pours a clear amber colour with an orange tinge and a small white head. Caramelised orange and sweet malty aroma with a hint of honey. Sweet orange marmalade, sweet malt and honey flavours, syrupy in the mouth but with a resinous bitterness in the finish. Nice but not sure I’d drink too much of it in a session.

Cask at The Metropolitan ’Wetherspoons’, Baker Street, London. A black coloured pour with a medium creamy off white head on top. Roasty, chocolate, aroma. Tastes roasty, chocolate, ashy and quite bitter. Pretty good stout but not picking up any marshmallow.
