Pretty much black with a tan head. Full bodied. Aroma is dark malts, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and brown sugar. Full bodied and silky smooth. Flavor is chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of vanilla. Finish is sweet and velvety. It’s a little too sweet, but extremely tasty regardless. Highly enjoyable porter and great on this cold Melbourne night.

Bottle from Stewarts Wine, Brisbane. Black with a medium tan head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, licorice and some coffee. The finish was quite bitter. A good one.

Aromas of mandarins, bread and marshmallows. The overwhelming flavour is of rotten mandarins and aniseed, with a dry breadcrumb finish.

Growler. Gold with a largish white head that lasts pretty well. High bead. Aroma of tartish oranges, nectarines, hay, dough, pepperberry. Stone fruity sweetness (a little much), oranges, a little tart doughy funk, floral and spicy bitter notes. At first thought it could have been drier at the end, but a bit of woodiness from the pepperberries pitches in there too.

Keg at Mrs Parmas, Melbourne. Dark brown, small beige head. Distinct aroma of licorice and grapefruit. Mid sweet with well sized body and rounded mouthfeel. Concentrated flavours of asphalt, chocolate and grapefruit. Realy bitter finish. Very solid Black IPA.

Bottled at Cookie, Melbourne, Victoria. Hazy golden, mid sized head.Cocoa aroma. Mid sweet with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Cocoa, lemon yoghurt and vanilla. Mid bitter finish, A good beer, but it shares little similarities to anything I would describe as a kölsch.

Keg at Cookie, Melbourne, Victoria. Cloudy yellow/straw colour, mid sized head. Generous aroma of fresh tangerine and lychee. Mid dry with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Lots of citric hops; gooseberry, tangerine and lychee, notes of coriander. Really bitter finish with resinous tones. Excellent!

Growler. Very dark brown with an inch of off-white head that lasts well. Aroma of chocolate, nectarines, passionfruit, lychees, oranges, somewhat mysterious spices. Creamy texture. Sweetish with chocolate, some treacle, loads of tropical fruit and nectarines. Fairly gentle bitterness with some resin soaking through. Different - lot much citrus, lots of other fruit. Good stuff.

Dark brown w a thin head. Aroma is mellow coffee, a good Melbournian roast, integrated W toast, choc...reminds me of a Coffee Crisp (Canadian chocolate bar), actually. Taste is smooth -nice body- with gentle toasty character. Well integrated coffee.
