Description
As the name implies, Felinfoel brewery is situated in ‘Felinfoel’, a small village adjoining Llanelli in Wales. Historians tell us that in the old days the inn brewed its own beer, but only during the winter months. The keeping qualities and the strength of the beers, therefore, were of prime importance and the popularity of ‘Felinfoel Beer’ led to the local inn brewing for other inns in the locality. This, in turn, led to the present brewery being built in 1878 to accommodate demand.
They became the first UK brewery to can beer in 1935. Still family owned, this is now Wales's oldest brewery.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from an offie in Stoke Newington/Dalston area. Pours totally clear yellow-gold with a small, creamy white topping. Lightly sweet with simple bready pale malt character, some English yeast, light bitter straw, some dough. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Bready finish, more yeasty accents, minimal bitterness. Simple and drinkable enough.

Bottle from Aldi Supermarket, Keighley. Amber-red with a very thin head. Fairly standard mildly sweetened bitter. In terms of texture it's also mildly sticky-sweet, tasting slightly dry within its balanced hops and malts.
