Bottled (BBE 2007)
Copper-orange brown, a bit hazy. Small creamy white head. Parfumic, fruity aroma. Medium bodied. Rounded mouthfeel. Chewy malts, sweety fruityness, also some alcohol/citric flavors. Fruity aftertaste. Very different witbier.

Tall sticky off white ehad over a hazy brown body. Lots of caramel and Belgian yeast aromas. Moderately sweet flavor but not overly complex. There are much more interesting Belgians to try than this one, perhaps this holds it’s acclaim because it is more widely available??

Cloudy amber/red with large, fizzy white head - sweet aroma, with figs, apple, raisin, plum and toffee - starts somewhat heavy, with plum, chocolate and caramel - some lighter fruity esters come into play later on, like raisin, cherry - some notes of vanilla and brandy - long, lingering finish that can best be described as chocolate pudding with fruit in it...but it works - there is some background bitterness in this that doesn’t quite taste like it comes from hops, but it serves well in keeping the sweetness at bay - I’ve never had a bad beer from them - I wish these products were more readily available where I live.

(Bottle 75 cl) Deep reddish brown with a fine, beige head and some lacework. Dry, roasted nose with some spiciness. Lovely full-bodied and malty beer with an incredibly complex palate that brings notes of port wine to memory. Believed to be the standard Abbaye des Rocs with a higher proportion of dark 6 chocolate malts. 310599

(Bottle 75 cl) A very unusual Biere Blanche. Darker, stronger, weirder. Dark golden with a nice, creamy head. Very complex spiced pattern - appart from the usual orange peel and coriander also juniper is used. Some citric bite and a unusual (for it’s type) bitter finish. Not quite as quenching as lighter Belgian Wits, but very original and different wheat beer, but probably not what most would consider a Biere Blanche. 170198

(Bottle 33 cl) In this original version simply called "Abbaye des Rocs" - all other versions are newer inventions. Very dark brown with a frothy and very lively beige head. Flavourwise we’re talking Trappist-territory here. Fantastic complex malty notes full of dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, used diapers, candi sugar - well, you name it. This beer has got pretty much everything, and by each sip you discover a new senasation. Extremely complex with a nice, warming alcohol. A classic indeed. 301297

(Bottle 75 cl) Orange golden, hazy ale with a thick creamy head. Incredible fruity aroma. Very, very aromatic but at the same time almost suffocatingly sweet. A beer that should definitely be enjoyed in small quantities. 140604 and 061297

Bottle. Weak malty aroma. Brown colour, small head. Flavour is malty and slightly peppery. Pointy aniseed aftertaste. Good body, slightly swelling mouthfeel. Hint of liquorice aftertaste. Not as peppery (or as good) as I expected. 6 3 8 3 18 Bottle, 9%, BB 2006, last year. Very fruity aroma, dried fruits and a little coriander. Hazy brown colour, some floaties. Very small light brown head. The flavour is slightly sweet, has distinct coriander notes. Some alcohol bitterness, but OK rounded. 7 3 8 4 18
